Looking at the Stars

The Dallas Stars came out firing this season, with a 4-0 start, but are now 1-3 in their last four and are coming off a 5-2 home loss to Anaheim on Tuesday. In general, scoring hasn’t been a problem for the Stars, who have scored at least four goals in five of their eight games, but the Stars are in the bottom five in the league in both power-play and penalty-kill efficiency rates. The Kings won five of six games against the Stars last season, but this is a new-look squad, one without former Dallas stalwarts Mike Modano, Marty Turco and Jere Lehtinen. Here’s what Terry Murray said he expects from the Stars…

MURRAY: “I think they’re playing with a lot of energy, a lot of emotion. They’ve got good structure in their game right now. It’s hard to get through the middle of the ice against them, with the 1-3-1 system that they’re playing. When you check well, it seems like good things will happen on the other part of the game, and they’re winning some games right now so there’s a lot of energy and enthusiasm. On the defensive part of the game, Lehtonen has really calmed things down. He has played very well and played every game. He’s under control. He was solid at the end of the year last year. He came into our building and had a real big game, and he’s just following through with that kind of effort.”

    I think we will be better against this team now that the two King killers Modano and Lehtinen are gone.

    @BC, Let us hope that tonight does not see the emergence of new king killers.

    Also, forgot that Modano was always a king killer. Scary that he is in detroit.

    @Bill M., @BC,

    Worse than those two is Mike Ribeiro…

    May not beat the boys every time but he sure puts a lot of puck into their net.

    Thanks to the Ducks for Robidas getting suspended for this game.

    The Kings have been opening up games with a feeling out process. Making adjustments on how to get trffic to the net better in the second half of games. Lets attack the net from the begining of the game, and continue the second half of play we displayed against Chicago.

    @Dominick, I hope your right, but I remember thinking we might beat Phx, because Shane Doan was out for smacking a Duck. I am thinking the Ducks must be the most universally hated team for bringing a 9 year old mentality to the NHL. Yeah, great idea lets name a team after a pee wee league of fictional co-ed 9 year olds, only Disney. I do respect there consistency though the goalie has always had a crush on the teams leading scorer.

    You don’t need to post a comment under every post asking why I’m deleting comments. The rules are posted on the left. Anyone who follows them is welcomed, and encouraged, to post comments.

    @Rich Hammond, i know the rules all to well, and you point to me which one i broke?? Also if you don’t want me to post over and over again. Maybe a answer more then 4 hours later?

    We’ve had this exchange at least twice already. I don’t have time to explain to every single person which rule was broken, nor do I keep track. Follow the rules, and there won’t be a problem.

    @variable, @ Rich,

    …In that vein, what do you think of the deepening concern about Drew Doughty’s concussion?

    Harrold should be in, not Drewiske. At least Harry gets the puck on net and has speed. Drewiske does nothing above average.

    When JMFJ does not get the puck through on the PP he make me more frustrated than a hooker with lock jaw at a millionaires convention. Get it on net not the chin gaurd…PLEASE
