After his nice assist on Ponikarovsky’s goal, Simmonds got rewarded with a goal of his own just nine seconds later. Simmonds was sprung on a breakaway and tucked the puck around Lehtonen as he was being knocked into the net. A video review showed that the puck crossed the goal line before the net was knocked off.
Simmers!!!! Way to wake up boys.

@Dwreck,
He stood up for his teammate – which is his job.
Would have been a neat trick to deliver a beat down without sacrificing a PP.
Grossman is a Swede. Think he’s going to willingly drop his gloves with Westgarth?
Westy would have had to jump him to deliver said beat down…which would have been a penalty.
No vacancy in the sin bin!
[Reply]
Here we go. Was only a matter of time. Get him Clifford!

Westgarth just showed why he should be in a suit in the stands. Stupid freaking penalty when the Kings could have been on the PP and broke this open.

Actually Westgarth was doing what he is paid to do. Stand up for the rest of the teammates who get hit unnecessarily, in this case Schenn.

@Mesquite Smokie,
Standing up for would be grabbing him face to face, not putting his face into the boards from behind to possibly injure him and for sure take the Kings off of the power play.

Quick is tracking the puck like a hawk tonight. This is the guy we had before the all-star break last year. Keep him well rested TM we’re gonna need Quick to be fresh for a deep run into June.
I can’t compliment Williams enough for his ability to get good body position. Multiple times this year the guy is 1-2 steps behind a defenseman on a dump and then he swoops down right in front of them on an angle boxes them out and gets in position to take the puck along the boards smart player making smart plays.

Kopitar line is pretty non-existent tonight. Kopi has zero shots so far.

As I said, tonight they took their frustrations from last night out on Dallas, matching the thrashing the Stars received from the quacks Tuesday. Re Westgarth… Not to single anyone out, but much of the criticism he receives betrays ignorance on the part of his critics. He made the correct moves tonight, and has thus far this season, with the exception of small errors. I love the explanation McSorley gave at Hockeyfest this year regarding when we drop gloves and when we don’t. To paraphrase Marty, “Guys, we’re in a 1 point hockey game; I’m sorry, but you’re going to have to suck that up… get me a 3 goal lead, however, and he’s going to pay…” I find it extremely annoying on a personal level to watch a young enforcer criticized by people who don’t seem to grasp what the job entails, and how its aims are achieved.
