Justin Williams’ postgame thoughts…
(on the game…)
WILLIAMS: “I think the story of the game was blocked shots. I haven’t seen a stat sheet yet, but when we did force them and get them to run around a little bit, we got the puck up to the top but they blocked a lot of shots. They really front a lot of pucks, and stop us from sustaining a lot of pressure because of that. They’re a tough team, obviously, to start with, and when they get the lead it’s a lot tougher to come back on them. We did have our chances. Ponikarovsky almost got one, almost evened it up. Ryan (Smyth) had a crossbar. But sometimes that’s not enough, and we need to get back at it tomorrow.”
(on not getting frustrated in that game…)
WILLIAMS: “There’s not much else you can do. Yeah, you do get frustrated a little bit, but you have to find ways to combat that. For every good defense, there’s always an offensive scheme you can conjure up to try to beat it. We tried to get pucks wide, and away from their blocks, stuff like that, but we weren’t able to get one past Turco when we needed a score. Tough insurance goal at the end got us.”
Justin looks GREAT This year! Puck Hungry!

Great job Rich, looking forward to Dullass tomorrow!

well said. there isn’t much more they could have done in the third…they dominated that period–it was a shooting gallery and turco was under siege…bad bounces and a bad goal which ended it….

Shake it off and on to the next game. Go Kings!

Great effort. Some bad luck. No Drew. Not finishing. Hit posts/ crossbars.
Bernier is not the messiah many thought he was. May not be playing enough to stay sharp, I don’t know.
The Kings played well enough to win but did not. This was one of those nights where nothing went in. There will be games where the puck has eyes.
Game is in the rear view mirror. There is another one tomorrow…

Ack, frustrating outcome tonight. The Kings’ 3rd period was IMO the best they’ve played so far this season – the most energetic, cohesive, and relaxed. Too bad they couldn’t pot any more than one, because they deserved to win. They outplayed the ‘Hawks handily from what I saw, although admittedly I missed the first period.
The Kings should feel great about their effort for the second half of the game. Lots to build on. If they muster up that kind of “compete level” night in and night out, every period of every game, they won’t lose many games and they WILL bring home the Stanley Cup.
