Chicago 2, Kings 1

Chicago took the lead back 1:18 into the second period. Bernier made the save on a long-range shot by Duncan Keith, but led the rebound bounce right in front of him. Before Bernier could cover the puck, Viktor Stalberg beat Rob Scuderi to the front of the net and knocked the puck in with a backhand shot.

  5. Need better shot control by Bernier, something he was so good at last season…

    Pull in the wagons, boys! There’s an important second PK to make!

    @BakoCAkingsCondorsGuy,

    agree. I can be certain to say goaltender coaches will be addressing rebound control in the next practice.

    It just looks like a lot of nerves. Really. Quick showed the same kind of thing early last season when we were relying on him so much

    I dunno if it’s great team defense by the Hawks, poor shot selection by our boys, or both. But I have never seen so many blocked shots against us. And high blocks too…like forwards at the top of the circle blocking shots

    Bernier needs to start controlling these rebounds weve been burned twice now because of that. hang onto the puck or direct the puck to the corners

    Not sure how the shot to the head of Clifford is not a penalty. If Kane got hit, someone would have been done for the night.

    @Jay, different plays. Simply making the point that the officiating is inconsistent. If you’re trying to prevent shots to the head, then you need to enforce the rules against shots to the head.

    @Alex U, I don’t like the implication you make that a player of any less stature then a superstar is not protected.

    Because in your reasoning Cole would have been tossed. And the hit by Kronwall on Selanne also would have been penalized.

    And Miettnen is no superstar. AND if I recall Alex Ovechkin was suspended for a few games last season for a boarding call.

    Seems to me it has been pretty fair and stature doesn’t mean anything.

    Richie misses an open net, Smyth hits the post point blank. Our chances are coming, gotta bury those!!

    Good energy going now. But man….Jarret “Miss the net” Stoll strikes again. Great cross ice feed by JW and a sprawling Turco and he couldn’t hit the net.

    Ain’t gunna score if it isn’t even on net.
