The view from Minnesota

Here’s a sampling of stories from the Minnesota media after last night’s game. After his hit from Dustin Brown, Antti Miettinen did not miss a shift but declined to talk to reporters after the game.

Best quote from the Star-Tribune blog:

“The Kings are bigger. They are younger. They are faster. And they are better, and the Wild should feel lucky Niklas Backstrom snagged them one point.”

Nice to hear that said by the opposing team’s media.

Looks like their media doesn’t think Brown’s hit was to the head either.

Last nights game was awesome to watch. Even when we were down 0-2 I could tell the Kings were strong. There was so much physical play that each second was entertaining to watch. The Wild looked really tired throughout the second half of the game. We blew a couple good scoring chances and should have won it in regulation, but we never gave up.

Great job guys on the PK, what a difference from the start of last season.

@James R, If there is a better PK in the league, I haven’t seen it yet. I truely think we have the best PK in the league and it just got better with Greene coming back.

How about the one comment that said…”I cant believe we lost to a mediocre Kings team!!”

LOL I guess some people still dont know that although yes….the Kings have years of failure behind them…are finally putting it all together!

    @Sean,
I saw that….. That enraged me at my desk…
I was in the middle of typing my inapropriate reply, then i saw

“The Kings are bigger. They are younger. They are faster. And they are better, and the Wild should feel lucky Niklas Backstrom snagged them one point.”

And it made me happy again.

@lafan13, i read the comments as well and had to post this one. the guy couldnt be any more wrong.

    suspension for brown….
if the league is truly committed to protecting players and getting rid of hits to the head, brown should be suspended…wasn’t the rule change last year intended for the ref’s to call the game misconduct and that would be the indicator of an automatic suspension?….of course, colin cleanser campbell is “in charge” of the league “discipline”….so brown may only have to spend an hour in colins office listening to his BS about leage rules and discipline as his “punishment”

@Sean, Ironic isn’t. By that comment he proved his mediocre knowledge of the league.

“LA coach Terry Murray, one of the game’s great coaches,…” (Star-Trib blog)

Not sure I ever heard that before but I gotta say I smiled when I read it.

Thanks for the links Rich! Is it going to become part of the norm to post up links like this after games? If so, that would be awesome. I love to hear what other teams’ media say about the Kings, especially after road games (and wins).

Mediocre? They have Clutterbuck, Shultz and that fossil John Madden as the face of their team and LA is mediocre? Too much snow in their eyes

I have to agree with the articles that the Wild are slow, cause the Kings were all over them with ‘speed’ and I dont consider the Kings one of the top fastest teams in the NHL. It was nice to see, but let’s see how it compares to Chicago’s team speed. It WAS great to see Simmer flashing around the ice for perhaps the first time this season. Much as I like seeing Richardson rewarded with 2st line duty, his absence makes our 4th line too slow; about the only times the Wild mustered any sustained pressure in the final 2 periods was when the 4th line got a shift.

Chicago will be a great measuring stick. I expect to see Quick in Chicago, especially since Bernier went into Dallas last year and had a great game.
