There’s not a whole lot to add to the Dustin Brown discussion, other than to cap it by saying that nobody with the Kings was really surprised at the lack of supplemental punishment. In addition, as soon as I saw the replay of the Niklas Kronwall hit on Teemu Selanne, compared to Brown’s hit — Kronwall got no discipline, even though it was a different type of hit — I was certain Brown would not face any suspension. The Kings never got any type of inquiry from the league office. The question, most likely, would have revolved around the “intent” part of the new rule, as the league could have determined that Brown intended to hit Antti Miettinen in the head, but that would be a hard case to make. Here’s what Brown said today, about whether he was worried about a possible suspension…
BROWN: “No, not really. After looking at the replay, like I said last night, I can understand why the ref made the call. There’s such a scrutiny on those type of hits, but I wasn’t that worried about it when I saw the replay. Shoulder to shoulder, he had the puck, he was shooting, it wasn’t late or anything like that. I think he was out [playing] for the first minute of that power play.”
I have nothing to add at this point either.

@Dominick,
That’s right, he isn’t. Hence the better title of Getzslob. You know, linemate of Ralph Malph.

@BakoCAkingsCondorsGuy, Rumor is going around that he is getting snooty about being played at RW instead of LW.
Well, you know, if you were a team player, and most concerned about playing on a winning team, you probably would have come to LA, where we are a team on the rise, and especially short on the left wing, rather than signing with a team that already sported a heavy crowd at Left Wing, not to mention having some aging stars with a minimal number of chances at a cup before a rebuild.
But we all know that playing left wing, and playing your best, and winning cups, wasn’t what you were worried about. Yeah. Thought so. Enjoy playing your best years with a rebuilding devils team that make your old Thrashers look like cup contenders.

I am so glad Kovalchuk didn’t end up in LA. So much down side, it’s hard to find enough upside.

@What’s the frequency, Kenneth?, I’ll tell you the upside…..
The Kings are 6-2-0…
The Devils are 2-6-1…
The Devils are having a hard time putting 15 players out on the ice for one game. The Kings are having a hard time deciding which 20 will play.

@Moondoggie, I’m saying I can’t see the upside in having him, at least at the moment.

@Moondoggie,
Great point. It’s a tuff call, BUT, I think I like where we are, a little more than where New Jersey ended up. LOL

@BakoCAkingsCondorsGuy,
I bet THAT little pill is hard to swallow for IK and Lou. And I’m not even talking about the healthy scratch. Think there aren’t “problems” in NJ? You are paying this guy $100 million………and you sit him?
Priceless!

And they still have to worry about two guys coming back from injury to put them over the cap.

You just keep popping ‘em Brownie and let the league worrie about the outcome! GO KINGS!!

Hopin’ for a rescind. I can’t see them admitting mistakes though.

Loved the hit! hated the call. Can’t blame the refs. Looking at it at full speed, I had the same thoughts. Glad to see that technology has enhanced primetime. Nothing like good old fashoned family veiwing, in slow motion. I could watch it 100 times, and it never gets old. Thanks Brownie.

@Dominick,
Agreed. When I watched at regular speed, it looked worse than it really was.
So what? Brownie…….do it again!

Rich:
Do you have any impression or word that the league will rescind the game misconduct? Have the Kings requested such a league review of the discipline yet in accordance with the CBA? Thanks.

Glad you’re back Brownie….Now lets win the next two and home against the Devils.

I haven’t seen it yet, or do we even know. Has the game misconduct been rescinded by the league?

Kudo’s to the league for not going over board on these things.

Kovi can kiss my ass. I hope the Devils don’t even make the playoffs. How many days till the Devils are at the Staples Center? We outta cheer him for deciding not to come to LA
