Green(e) light to play

After three months of rehabilitation and countless hours of skating and practicing, Matt Greene will be back in the Kings’ lineup tonight. To make room for Greene on the active roster, the Kings are expected to put Drew Doughty on injured reserve — he would be eligible to return on Thursday, per league rules — and Greene will go into the lineup in place of rookie Jake Muzzin.

GREENE: “It feels good to be back around the guys, and hopefully have a good game tonight. We’re looking for a win here. … I think they [doctors] did a good job. The doctors cleared me, so everything is healed. It’s just a matter of playing the game now. No excuses. It’s all on me, not my shoulder.”

Greene said he would be ready to play a normal game and wouldn’t need to ease his way back into his normal style.

GREENE: “Let’s hope not. If I’m not playing my game, then I’m really no help to the team. I just want to be physical, be good in my own end and get the puck in the forwards’ hands. Just pretty much the usual for me. That’s what I’m concentrating on. I’m just worrying about myself tonight, to make sure my game is going, and getting myself ready.”
