Murray postgame quotes

Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…)

(on beating Vancouver twice in the first week…)
“There’s a great deal of importance to the game. Any time you lose in a playoff series, like we did last year, there’s check marks on the schedule, that those are the games you really want to come back and give solid efforts in. We wanted to build off our third period in Atlanta. We came out with that kind of energy, and there’s no question that Vancouver, coming off their game in Anaheim, felt they had that game and it got away from them in the third period. So it was pretty good stuff. Good tight checking, good solid responsible game in the first period.”

(on dealing with Vancouver’s pressure in the first and second periods…)
MURRAY: “Well, that is a pretty good hockey club out there. That is one of the premier teams in the league over the last couple years, and still is. They’re an outstanding hockey club. They’ve got balance and probably have the best defense corps in the National Hockey League. They’re going to have some offensive-zone time.”

(on the poise after Vancouver’s goal…)
MURRAY: “It was nice to respond the right way with that one. I think we’ve shown pretty good composure. Last year, when you go back, looking back at the league stats, we never lost a game after leading after the second period. We were able to shut games down and do a pretty responsible job with good composure. The response, though, with that quick goal is certainly what you want to see. It was a great play by Kopi and Brownie.”

(on the play of the second line…)
MURRAY: “The Stoll line was maybe our better line out there tonight, again. They were really pursuing the puck with good pressure, had a lot of composure, making plays, made good decisions through the center of the ice and ended up scoring. Williams’ goal is a nice attack, good attitude. Muzzin jumping up on the play, getting to the net, looking for those loose pucks. It’s a great read.”
