The Kings announced today that former captain Mattias Norstrom will be honored in an on-ice tribute before the Oct. 30 home game against New Jersey. Norstrom played 780 games for the Kings, second all-time among defensemen and fifth overall. From 1993-2008, he also played for Dallas and the New York Rangers.
“Matty Norstrom was an exceptional teammate, a standout player and leader, and a fan favorite for the Kings for a number of years, and we are thrilled to recognize him in this special manner,’’ said Kings president Luc Robitaille, a teammate of Norstrom for seven years.
Also, some have asked about the Kings’ schedule for alternate jerseys this season. I have it, and it stars tonight with the black/white third jerseys. They will wear the vintage “purple and gold” jerseys on Jan. 15 vs. Edmonton, Feb. 24 vs. Minnesota and March 19 vs. Anaheim. As for the black/white third jerseys, they will be worn for the following home games: tonight vs. Atlanta, Nov. 11 vs. Dallas, Dec. 26 vs. Anaheim, Jan. 1 vs. San Jose, Jan. 20 vs. Phoenix, March 3 vs. Phoenix, March 7 vs. Dallas, March 24 vs. San Jose, April 2 vs. Dallas, April 6 vs. Phoenix and April 9 vs. Anaheim.
