Not great hospitality

Perhaps the Scotiabank Saddledome will be more kind to the Kings than the Pengrowth Saddledome was? It’s the same arena, but with a name change, and the sight of it hasn’t been kind to the Kings since the lockout. The Kings have lost nine consecutive games to the Flames in Calgary and were outscored by a margin of 32-13 in those nine games. In fact, the Kings have totaled four goals in their last five games in Calgary, including last season’s twin 2-1 losses here. The Kings’ last win in Calgary was on Dec. 21, 2005, a 5-2 victory. Only Dustin Brown remains from that Kings team.

Coincidentally, the Kings’ first two games this season are in arenas that hosted Olympic hockey. Vancouver’s arena hosted the tournament this year while the Saddledome hosted the 1988 Olympic hockey tournament.

The Flames are going to come out banging to take advantage of our 19 hour turnaround with travel. I am not sure I would take Scheen or Clifford out of this one. I may also look like we can go without Westy, but Westy have some sway in the game. If he has to go, it will likely be a good first match for him.

This will be a walk in the park compared to last night’s stifling canuck defense…the kings should have a fairly easy go…as long as they don’t take the flamers as lightly as I am….

I’d like to see a poll on the uni’s now that we’ve seen them in a game.
I’d really like to see LA go back to these classic looks.
Keep the 90′s era look 3rd uni’s and the purple and gold, IMO.

Kopitar looks set to be the REAL best player in the world. I just wish he took more joy in throwing punishing checks.
    Move over Sindy and Ovie.

Wow. 72 games for Quick last season at 23 years old. Last night he looked to be fit again and just as steady and cool as he was last year when HE earned this team a playoff spot.

Poni is a downgrade from Fro, but it’s nice to have some good looking youngsters in the loop.
We’d be lethal if we had a Brett Hull type to bury all Kopi’s beautiful setups.

I’d say we have as much a chance as anyone – to win it all. But, we also have plenty to prove.
    Should be an interesting season.

Re: unis–I HATE the current 3rd jersey, blah colors and lame logo; the purple should replace it, keep the current black & purple.

@Rob, Couldn’t agree more on the current 3rd jersey. Looks like something a 5th grader put together, no offense to 5th graders.
    Go Kings.

There’s a difference this time: now, the Kings are the better team.

I know you don’t play hockey on paper… otherwise, the skates would absolutely tear it up even more so than the crappy Staples Center ice in March.

But the Kings have higher expectations than the Flames, something I don’t think anybody could’ve said in any of the previous nine meetings in Calgary.

Why don’t we have the purple gold as a 4th jersey like the rangers did a while ago. Have like 21 games with our purple black, 10 black and white and 10 purple gold.

I love all our jerseys but I think our current jersey is a good jersey and i think our 3rd jersey is a good third jersey.

A lot of teams in the nhl jersey don’t really go with the name. If the current alt was the main jersey whats so kingly about it?

Its like how the ducks jersey just says ducks. Thats it. No duck on it.

    We owe Calgary a good a r s e whoopin.

I loved Clifford’s game last night. I know a lot of people talked about Schenn and others who wants to see Lok, but the kid played very responsibly.

Didn’t think Richardson played bad, but he was kind of average looking. I also think Stoll played extremely well 5 on 5, but it was painful to watch him on the PP. The guy won 9 of 11 face offs. That makes a big difference in time of possition.

It will be interesting to see how Calgary plays us. I thinking they will try and trap us on night long at least until they get behind. We should blow this team out.

Quicker’s look last nite was just sick. The ears & hair painted on his mask was a fantastic touch & tribute to the old masks. I loved the dual crowns, & the pads & gloves looked just awesome!

Beat these guys tonite & thrash ATL on Tuesday & I’ll be quite pleased, thank you!
