Youth movement

The Kings are No. 1…at least in one category. Kings communications staffer Jeremy Zager ran the numbers, and the Kings will start the season with the youngest average age in the NHL, at 25.4. That’s not a huge surprise, given that the Kings were in the top three last year, then cut ties with 38-year-old Sean O’Donnell and added two 19-year-olds. Still, the Kings are practically getting younger every season…

2007-08: 27.7
2008-09: 26.3
2009-10: 26.4
2010-11: 25.4

All ages are calculated based on season-opening rosters.
