    How can you not love this kid? Rich, has Kings Vision been able to put something together with all of the goals from the other night or hightlights? Thanks for all the info Rich! Also, who is gonna back up on Saturday?? See ya at FF!

    I can not love him knowing that we could have had MP(S)!

    @darko25o,

    MP(S) Hasn’t done anything in an NHL game

    darko25o Reply:

    @Paul, either has Schenn.
    But you can look at what each player has done professionaly, since they are the same age…course, you didn’t take the time to do that. And if the pre-season counts, MPS has more points in a single game than Schenn has in both his pre-seasons combined

    rich Reply:

    @darko25o, why are you still looking in the past? We don’t have him, and Schenn will put up the numbers when the time comes. A true Kings fan moves on and backs the kids and talent we have now.

    there were a lot of man-crushes born when schenn did that. it was amazing to watch, and i feel privileged to have seen it live.

    Wow, I didn’t get the feed here in Oregon. Maybe Schenn is THE KRAKEN! He kicked his ass! Anyway, Westgarth is the true Kraken as someone so brilliantly coined the phrase on the blog. But, Schenn has got to be Kraken Jr. (until Clifford makes his bid for Kraken-hood). This season is going to be SO awesome. I love the count down clock on the website. Now, I can take it out of my feeble brain and just hit refresh.

    @Mike in Oregon,

    I was watching a Westgarth fight on youtube with my daughter and The Kraken came to me. With the first name Kevin it has a ring to it.

    Kevin “The Kraken” Westgarth.

    Schenn really was smart in how he fought in this one. Man, Murray is gonna have a tough time deciding who to keep.

    @KC23,

    I just refer to Westgarth as “Lurch.” He’s going to be a lot of fun to watch this year.

    This fight footage is more impressive than what was available earlier on youtube. Sbisa was flailing away early not landing anything before Schenn took over and dominated the fight. Love those left uppercuts right before the zebras moved in.

    The backstory on this fight is almost as good ad the actual fight. In Rich’s interview with Schenn, he points out how Sbisa was egging him on all game to go. Schenner just made him wait. I loved that. I loved the fact that this kid has the poise to recognize not to give him any help early in the game and that it just wasn’t the time. That’s confidence. He’s focused on playing HIS game and not trying to go over-the-top at the expense of the team to look impressive.

    Not to mention the fight was great as well. Very cool.

    @Cynic, The back, back story is even cooler…these guys fought in juniors. Here’s a link to that tilt…I’ll say revenge is sweet!

    @Cry Baby,

    But because Schenn won the NHL-level fight, and as a part of Kings-Ducks also, he is officially more awesome.

    @Cry Baby,
    Thanks for this CB. I did want to see that, just didn’t have time to search for it. Appreciate you making it easier. WICKED hit by Sbisa on that poor kid before the fight.

    Are we sure he’s Swiss?

    [Reply]

    KC23 Reply:

    @Cynic, The fight was a draw IMHO, but Sbis got the last few in.

    The real thing that hit me was Schenn took him on in response to his teammate getting creamed.

    driller1 Reply:

    @KC23, What fight were you watching? How did Sbis get the last few in, as he was turtled inside his sweater while Schenn was wailing away with his left? Schenn could have easily hurt the guy but pulled back because Sbis was defenseless. (and the linesmen stepped in)

    @driller1,
    they’re in reference to the fight they had in juniors. Schenn was 16 in that fight! i miss the WHL sooo much! at the begining of that fight you see them apply the “western rule”, man-code, where they take off their helmets with their mandatory visors that are about as thick as the glass that protects the Constitution.
    other than the recent influx of enforcers coming out of the Ivy league, the WHL has a long tradition of supplying the NHL with its toughness.

    KC23 Reply:

    @driller1, I was referring to the fight in this particular reply … not the duck fight, but the one he had in juniors against the same guy.

    I really hate those quacks! They get their butts kicked on the scoreboard and all they ever do is try to rape our players by jumping them from behind. B Ryan, R Getz, and C Perry are all a bunch of poor sport loser Dicks! Excuse me, Ducks.

    Kevin Y Reply:

    @gr81scores,

    Like when B Ryan bulldozed Moller at the end of that 4-0 victory last January… That was awesome to get that final victory in Anaheim, with Williams and Zeus scoring two late goals.

    The Kings will do their talking on the scoreboard.

    @Cynic,

    I have to wonder what Sbisa was thinking because the first fight back in Juniors was perhaps a draw, but Schenn certainly didn’t lose it. I very seriously doubt that Sbisa thought that he would get his a$$ kicked so mightily!

    And I totally agree with your point about Schenn holding off until the right time. When Sbisa asked him earlier, it was right after the Kings had scored back to back goals and fighting may have changed the momentum of the game but Schenn realized that and refrained. Smart kid for being 19!

    After the game when they asked Murray what he thought of Schenn’s play, he talked about how well he did and how responsible he was at both ends, and then my favorite part was “Then, at the end, he kind of surprised me with what he did.” LOL! Again, smart kid surprising the coach like that.

    I my mind, I imagine Dean was looking on with a sense of satisfaction that none of us can really know.

    It’s gonna be a great year!

    Cynic Reply:

    @kings4queens,

    Sbisa looked a bit better in the first fight, but you usually do better after just checking someone out of their shorts. Those endorphins, adrenaline, testosterone, ya know.

    I was thinking the same thing about Dean myself. You’re totally right. He probably had to use the restroom after seeing Schenn throw down for a teammate like that.

    I’m cautious every year about getting excited. I think that’s just the natural reaction of a Kings fan, but it sure does look to be a pretty awesome if eveyone stays healthy. Best part, if some do get injured, we have some SERIOUS quality to step right in. When is the last time we as Kings fans could say that?

    Seeing this fight, and all your comments makes me laugh a little bit..

    I wont get into the fighting debate, but doesn´t this seem kind of silly?

    Why did they fight?
    * Were they angry at each other? No.
    * Did some starplayer just received a nasty hit so that they had to “step in”? No.
    * Were it in a critical ande high tense part of the game? No.

    So it seems that they fought just for the sake of fightning. just to showcase themselves. If you look at it in that way it looks kind of silly.

    Embarrasing..

    On another note, I like Schenn and think he will get that fourthline center position over Loktionov, simply because he fits that role better. Lokti has been great but should be a 2nd line center someday, and can still develop in Manchester. Schenn in juniors is not very good.

    @MacSwede, One set of my grandparents was off the boat from farms outside Stockholm and the other pair was off the boat from Ireland. They viewed almost every situation completely different. The Sweds were always looking for a way to make it work, or compromise, if you will. While the Irish were always ready to roll up the sleeves at the slightest indiscretion. I honestly do not see how two cultures could be further apart. America seems to have taken from both, in the sense that we try to work it out, but are ready and willing to fight if challenged. The great thing is that America also took the work ethic from each. Anyway, the Sweds never understood. So, I do not think you will be able to understand having been raised in Sweden. And there is nothing wrong with that.
