Sunday practice update

Similar to yesterday, the Kings went through another two-hour session of intense drills and conditioning skating. The ever-popular 2-on-2 “pit” drill made an appearance also. Scott Parse, still feeling the effects of his sore toe, skated for the first hour but then didn’t return to the ice for the second half of the session. Brad Richardson stepped up and filled Parse’s spot on that line.

Defensive partners have moved around a bit in different drills, but Thomas Hickey has been getting quite a bit of time with Davis Drewiske. Is that a subtle, unstated sign that Hickey might be in the driver’s seat to earn a spot? We should learn more based on who is paired together for Tuesday’s exhibition game.

Speaking of which, that game will be streamed live on LAKings.com, and since there’s no split-squad games, Nick Nickson and Daryl Evans will be calling the action for 1150-AM and affiliates.

Hickey in the lead for Greene’s spot, good. Richardson getting top 6 consideration – better.

Rich. In ur own opinion which rookie do u think can slip into that 2nd line if Parse doesn’t live up to expectations?

    @Dide,

I wouldn’t expect to see a rookie in that spot. I’d actually expect Richie to get that spot if Parse is unavailable, and have a rookie fill in for him on the 4th line. If you’re talking about long term I’d look to Moler to get that Spot if Parse falls short.

@AZ King, Agreed on the 4th line; Ritchie would definitely move up with either Schenn, Oscar or Clifford manning the open position on the 4th line. Then you’ve got Lokti to figure in as well, tough decision all the way around.

If I’m a betting guy, I think Lokti & Hicks have the inside edge with Clifford right in there. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Clifford beats out Clune, tough calls all the way around but it is making for an interesting camp.

Will the radio play by play be synchronized with the streaming? I suspect there will be a delay between the two.

Even if there is a delay, it will still be better than the last one with no sound at all. Can’t wait to watch it.
    Thanks Rich.

Hickey is the guy I hoped would get 5-6 spot.Three lines deep w/puck mover& at home physical types paired.Maybe its best to try a few different guys in the 7th spot til greens back .We might have better insight in case of injury.Hate to say it but its near inevitable there’s going to be one,or more.Hickey is probably smart enough for NHL game speed, agression, ect.

@rumpa#19, Yea… We’ve all been wrong before and you never can tell what DL is thinking but I’m certain he’ll make the right decision. Right now I think Hicks has the edge. We’ll see how Tuesday goes…..

@Moondoggie, Love the way DLs built the team and the organizations depth, but at this point who makes the team is probably more TMs decision.

I enjoyed the last streamed game. But add some game sounds besides just the announcer. Game got boring quick.

I was rooting for Frannson to make the squad for some reason. Has he not been as impressive as Hickey? May the best man win.

    Thanks for the streaming too!

Hey Rich, seems like Schenn’s name has not found it’s ways to everyone’s make the roster list, after sunday’s practice, can you guve your udpate on who’s leading that charge and why?

Also Does Clifford really appear to be leading for that 4th line job, or does Clune and Zeiler look safer?
