Postgame notes (Sept. 23 at PHX)

— The Kings lost 2-1 in overtime. Alexei Ponikarovsky scored the Kings’ goal (unassisted), 12 seconds into the second period, for a 1-0 lead, and it held up until Kyle Wellwood scored a power-play goal with 1:43 remaining in the third period and Shane Doan scored a power-play goal 3:54 into overtime.

— Jonathan Bernier played the first two periods in goal for the Kings and stopped all 18 shots he faced. Jeff Zatkoff played the third period and overtime and stopped 18 of 20 shots.

— The Kings did not get a power play in the game and went 4-for-6 on the penalty kill. They were 4-for-4 until the two Phoenix goals.

— The Coyotes outshot the Kings 38-25, including 16-7 in the third period and 4-0 in overtime.

— Ponikarovsky had a team-high three shots on goal. Alec Martinez had a team-high five blocked hots.

— The Kings won 21 of 59 faceoffs (36 percent). Brad Richardson lost 9 of 14.

— Davis Drewiske played a team-high 23 minutes, 14 seconds. Richardson led all forwards at 21:19.
