— The Kings lost to the Phoenix Coyotes 3-1 at Staples Center. Brayden Schenn scored 6:55 into the third period to tie the game 1-1, but Brett MacLean scored a third-period power-play goal and Eric Belanger added an empty-net goal.

— Dustin Brown and Jack Johnson assisted on Schenn’s goal.

— Jonathan Quick played the entire game in goal for the Kings and stopped 18 of 20 shots.

— The Kings went 0-for-3 on the power play and 7-for-8 on the penalty kill.

— The Coyotes outshot the Kings 21-20. Anze Kopitar had a game-high eight shots on goal.

— Brown was credited with a team-high four hits, while Rob Scuderi had a team-high three blocked shots.

— The Kings won 15 of 43 faceoffs (35 percent).

– Johnson played a game-high 25 minutes, 55 seconds. Ryan Smyth led all forwards at 20:55.
