Here’s the traveling roster for the first two preseason games, Wednesday at Colorado and Thursday at Phoenix. Erik Ersberg had been scheduled to travel, and play Wednesday’s game, but he will stay behind because of the hand injury he suffered in practice this week. Terry Murray is scheduled to coach Wednesday’s game, then fly back to Los Angeles to coach Thursday’s game at Staples Center, rather than accompany the team to Phoenix. Jamie Kompon and John Stevens will coach the two road games. Here’s the scheduled roster. It’s not yet known exactly which players will play in which game. The two road games will be on radio with Nick and Daryl. I’ll be at Staples Center on Thursday to cover that game…
Goalies: Jonathan Bernier, J.F. Berube, Jeff Zatkoff.
Defensemen: Andrew Campbell, Davis Drewiske, Peter Harrold, Thomas Hickey, David Kolomatis, Alec Martinez, Patrick Mullen.
Forwards: Justin Azevedo, Robert Czarnik, Corey Elkins, Michal Handzus, Bud Holloway, Ray Kaunisto, David Meckler, Jordan Nolan, Scott Parse, Alexei Ponikarovsky, Brad Richardson, Jarret Stoll, Kevin Westgarth, Justin Williams, John Zeiler.
I don’t get it.. Shouldn’t Wayne Simmonds be there?
Parse-Stoll-Williams
Ponikarovsky-Handzus-Richardson?
I’m all confused now :S

@AK47, Or maybe i was Clune and Lewis

I don’t see Simmer on there.
I wonder if that means they will try someone else on the right side of Zeus?

@Doc. Mark 1968, They have to have a certain amount of “vets” and rookies. So they cant set up the lines like they will during the regular season.

Pretty light travel squad for the 2 road games huh?
No Kopi, DD, JJ, Simmer, Schenn, Clifford, etc, etc, etc.
Guess they wanna roll out the top stars for the home fans tomorrow night?

Anyone know where the radio link that used to be on the Kings’ main page went? I want to listen to the game tonight…

Apologies if this has already been posted, but Pierre LeBrun has a video interview with Rich Clune on the front page of ESPN’s NHL section!

@Lanny McDonald’s ‘Stache,
Is it too much to ask for ESPN to have a decent camera guy shoot the thing?
Jeez man … that network never ceases to disappoint

I just want to see how Westy does and if there are any good beat downs!
Seen his skating, puck handling, small change in front of the net…
Now for the MMA skills …

Can you believe NHL network is airing over 30 NHL preseason games and the Kings don’t have one being aired!! But the Ducks, Coyotes, and Sharks have like two apiece, what’s up with that??

@Tyler,
Can’t blame the NHL Network. The Kings aren’t broadcasting any Preseason. And then you have Vancouver who is broadcasting every Preseason game.
It’s all about Dodgers, Angels, USC and UCLA right now. There wouldn’t be any ratings for the Kings.

I would agree that the college football games would draw ratings, but not the Angels or Dodgers. Chavez Ravine looked like a high school baseball “contest” last week when the Rockies blew out the Dodgers. Half way through the game, the outfield bleechers had – maybe – a few hundred diehard fans.

@Zeley,
Well FSN must know something we don’t know because if the Kings would draw more viewers than the baseball, than it makes sense to show the Preseason. Perhaps FSN is contractually obligated to airing the baseball.

@Tyler, They happen to be playing away in markets that actually cover their pre-season games. FSN would have to be covering the games here for them to be picked up by the Network and seen nationwide.

@Diablito93,
I’m surprised Altitude isn’t showing tomorrow nights game. They are showing a college football game from 2004. Unless they make an adjustment in the next 24 hours and go to their alternate channel or something.

@R.E.M. Murray,
Apologies
Altitudes website says they will be airing the game.
Now it is time to find that illegal stream for those outside the US or those without a dish.
I’m sure Rich’s illegal stream rules don’t apply to Preseason games.

@R.E.M. Murray, altitude site still doesnt show a listing of the game.
I love this Stubhub description of the Kings:
“After a disappointing early exit in the first round of the 2009-2010 playoffs, the Kings will be back with a vengeance in 2010-2011. With talented players like Erik Ersberg and Jonathan Bernier, you know they won’t be held down for long. You can get your Los Angeles Kings tickets now with Stubhub, but don’t wait too long! StubHub has you covered for all your ticketing needs but the best seats in the house are sure to sell quickly for the most anticipated matchups.”
Really?? Ersberg and Bernier?? Lol

@Josh M, haha pretty funny….ersberg will lead the kings to the cup! Disapponting? i was just glad the team made the playoffs last year, this year a first round out would be very disappointing.

I dont know why people are upset here…I dont remember the last time a Kings pre-season game was televised. Frankly i would rather have FSN show a few more regular season games than to spend money to broadcast a preseason game. Go Kings!

Does anyone know when Roster Cuts are made? It seems alot of teams are cutting their rosters today by sending players back to junior AHL etc

I’m going to the split game at Staples and I was hoping to see Bernier and Hickey. Looks like they’ll be in Phoenix, right?

If Rich works for the Kings to cover the team, why isn’t he going to tomorrow’s game in Colorado?

Rich Hammond Reply:

Because the radio guys are going on the road, and if I didn’t stay here, there would be no coverage of the home game.

What’s the best chance for a fan in Colorado to see the team while they’re here? Is it even possible? (I’m broke, so the game’s out.

I’m definitely looking forward to seeing Schenn and Loktionov on Thursday night at Staples.
