@Traded for a Pick,

and if we don't get Kovy we're gonna be much the same team next year but WITHOUT Fro's considerable skills and OD's stability.

Even if we wanted to re-sign Fro, what would he cost in comparison with that psychotic Minnesota contract with Koivu?

@notenoughkovy, Whoa slow down on trading any GT. Let's see, Quickee has 85-90 NHL games in, Bernie has maybe 10, Zats has zero! Bernie has most upside, has everything at plus plus rating, few holes. Quick is solid but has some holes, fixable holes tho. I saw Zats play in the A + for Reign, not impressive. Big enough, but a risk project still. Marty Jones is real deal in WHL & Team Canada Jrs. Leave GTs alone already! Don't forget big heart Ersberg either! Bernie could win out in camp (again!) as 1A?

Just wondering, if Zatkoff really is good, how about the situation with Bernier and Quick? Should we trade either Quick or Bernier?

Now, this is just my thought, but who thinks Bernier will be better then Quick?

@Cup B4 I Die,

More like Hickey/Simmonds/Bernier for Sharp.
Look at his contract and find a team that can't make room for that contract other than Chicago?
The line for his services will be a long one.

Remember that book that Rich wrote about the other Day, Money Players, that talked about the Free agency blitz, well it also talked about the CBA and the NHLPA. One thing it mentioned and don't quote me on this but it referred to how the owners didn't really respect the NHLPA head Ted Saskin. They knew that they could push him around and that eventually the players union would crumble and want to settle the dispute and agree on the new CBA. Although it didn't crumble, it did build a wedge and of course they did agree on the CBA.
I say this because Donald Fehr is not a man you can push around. The only reason why he hasn't been hired is because he wants a shorter contract and I'm sure the NHLPA wants him longer.
Nevertheless, this guy is well respected. Yes the owners may try to lower the cap but if they do, you better believe the players will get something in return this time. I think both sides will play hardball tactics as always of course but the owners I think this time know that Mr. Fehr will get a good deal done for his players and hopefully prevent a work stoppage. Although it seems from hearing quotes from Lou and DL both are very skeptical about the new CBA and maybe a potential work stoppage.
