@Kevin, Rich, is rushed do you see the content he is kicking out. Do the math its just a rushed mistake.
79 divided by 30 it is the 19th pick of the 3rd round.

I don’t understand this move. Why would we dump a second rounder for a third rounder, unless next year’s draft is supposed to be THAT much better. Any type of future considerations involved?

im not sure i understand this….that is really far away….i dont think we have a pick untill the 5th round now….

i hope they trade up to take Galiev or Pulkkine…. i cant believe both these guys didnt go in the first 3 rounds…..however, there has been like 10 picks while they were interviewing Hall, so maybe they are gone by now

@VanKingsFan, Correct. The 1st round is picks 1-30, the 2nd round is 31-60, 3rd round 61-90 etc. etc.

Josh, to me, this tells me that for the Kings staff a 3rd rounder in 2012 is more valuable than one this year or in 2011. They are planning for the future and didn’t have a player that jumped out at this point in the draft.

I’m sure we’ll understand as time goes on.

DL having the names on the jerseys of these kids shows he got who he wanted. This was probably a favor type of thing seeing how Burke had no first rounders and very few picks. This may be a you scratch my back type of thing. Wait a couple days and we shall see. It was our second 3rd round pick and we get another 3rd round pick in a couple years. No loss and it helps both teams.

..this means our scouts could not find any good player
for the 3d round (????)I think we need to improve our scout staff too. i do not like this!!! 3 for 3 ?!?!

@flex, Think about it good. Toronto traded there #1 to Boston where did they pick 2nd overall. We made the playoffs would have picked 19th overall if not for a trade to 15th. Toronto will have a top 5 draft slot in the 3rd round next year probably higher. So we are waiting a year and having a pick that would be 14+ players earlier next year. I don’t know this for sure, but next year may also have a deeper crop I guarantee you Hexi & DL know. (I would also wager Quisp knows)

There was A LOT of discussion with Burke before this trade was announced, and DL was very animated. At one point he walked away looking mad with his hands in his pockets. Kings fans around me started to chant, “FU, Burke!” DL went back to the Kings table, got another person (tall guy – Solomon?) and went back to Burke (who by then had another guy with him). Tall guy had a notebook and seemed to going over figures. Finally all sides seemed OK with whatever they were talking about and they announced a trade. Most in my area thought that meant we had traded for Kaberle. When it was announced we had just swapped picks it was such an anticlimax!
