    I really don’t understand this pick, the Kings needed somebody who could put the puck in the net. They needed a couple of forwards like Etem or Skinner. I have no idea what Lombardi is thinking. Unless the possibility that there is a deal on the table, that brings Kovalev to LA.

    @Jim Martin,

    This far down in the draft, these guys aren’t ready for the NHL and won’t be for a few years. Having too many defensemen in the organization is like too much money … not possible.

    If you end up with excess defensive talent, they are very valuable for trading for what you do need at any given time.

    @Jim Martin,

    Well, Mr. Quisp can probably explain it best. I will give a try.

    1. All highly toughted scorers with upside went real early. Kinda like bottled water in the stores when there is a drought.

    2. DL could not move up that high or it would have cost too much.

    3. In several interviews DL has preached “the best guy (player)”. He syas you dont want to reach, and end up with a bust. Like Sather just did. Sather could have had a number of good players and choose a career 3rd line goon at best with little skill at this point. No real upside besides the toughness. DL got Clifford in the second last year.

    4. DL has a pretty good draft record and good team of guys with him. Ergo the plyer ratings cannot be trusted beyond the top 4-5 guys.

    5. No garuntee that Teubert, Voynov, Hickey etc etc pan out. Ergo the best player on their sheet at the right price.
