drew is starting to show more personality during these type of appearances…it’s probably a by-product of being regarded as a maturing adult, peer respect/accolades and the emerging inner confidence that he belongs amongst the elite nhl defensemen…

@kennynakamoto,
hey, buddy…!
yeah…i stuck solely to one blog site this year…espn’s was just ridiculous and too fandamonium-based…i thought it was funny because in lieu of actually being able to be vocally heard, i think posters went out of their way to say the most unintelligent things in the most uncreative ways in order to force their views on the rest of us…
they are a few good peeps on espn, so i don’t want to be completely missive of everyone on there…but one site is really enough for me…i spend plenty enough time on here…and RICH does an outstanding job year-round…
pluus, i rather talk to fellow kings fans on this site, i’ve been very pleased to discover that the majority of the peeps who participate on here are friendly, knowledgeable and passionate not just about the kings, but hockey, too…
i know you know this…but it bares worth repeating…
now if we can just get the site running smoothly…:)

Personality yes, maturing definitely but still a little rough. I’m not sure how smart it is to announce that you hate golf, I’m sure his agent was watching the dollar bills sail out the window. Still I applaud him for his answer on the Norris, was a very tactful “Yeah I would vote for me”.

@jammer06, why would he get any less money on a contract by stating he hates golf? No team is gonna offer him less money because of that, and I doubt any golf company would have any reason to try and sponsor him. Makes no sense.

@jammer06,
re: golf comment…
are you best friends w/jim remy…???
i’m sorry, drew not liking golf is the equivalent of him not liking brussel sprouts…
how that would affect his contract is like saying you won’t offer him what he’s worth because he doesn’t like “lost”…or care about simon cowell…or likes playing scrabble instead of paintball…
sir, what are you talking about…?

@jammer06,
I thought his answer of hating golf was great!
Its not like he said that he hates golf because most golfers are total dorks that will bore you to death with stupid stories of their last golf game. Its not as if he said he hates golf for the enormous amount of chemicals and water used in maintaining golf courses.
He just sounded like a kid who hates golf because he isn’t any good at it.

I also hate golf because I’m no good at it. But I still play it all the time because I hate myself. By the way, the other day I was on the third tee and this reall crazy… oh, never mind.

Drew is my age and he definitely still has the personality of a 20 year old. When he gives a responsible answer you can see that he is simply following protocol. Sometimes he lets his true colors leak out though and you can tell he’s a funny kid. Him and Greene must have some funny conversations.

@josh e.,
i agree…and yr comment is truer to the point and resembles the “emergency” he’s going through…
after the protocol, he loosens up a bit and becomes more genuine…
drew needs a few ice breakers and that “follow-up” question to be more revealing than just the standard “nice-kid” response he gives you upon the first inquiry…
look…
he’s 20…yr 20…
if you guys are perfect now, it only gets worse from this point on…(!)…jk…and the fact that he shows us what he does displays he’s on track in being a competent interview subject…
time is on his side…:)
the truth is…we all are still emerging

RICH…
FYI…:
the site is still having issues and has for awhile now…i think we all are being patient…but i’m not sure why the same problems exist…:
- random formats for comments – sometimes you are linked to the actual visuals…sometimes it seems like a beta application…it goes in patterns…you can log out and log back in and it still happens…or you can go to another url and comeback and yr left in a weird time capsule of the site…
- when a comment is submitted, it sometimes takes you back to the original thread before you commented, not acknowledging the most-recent posted comment on the thread…the poster is left not knowing whether or not their comment was captured…
i know a lot of this stuff is relied upon to fix by the peeps that run the site…if you can forward this to them, maybe it could help…
thanks for listening…and hopefully this stuff can get fixed…:)

Question:
What’s up the draft? Are tickets still not available? When will they be? Kind of hard to find info. I visit the main draft page on NHL.com and it doesn’t even show the frickin dates! (Friday June 25 @ 4pm I think is the first day)
Also, I’ve read/heard rumblings about having a get together for all of us. I, for one, am in. Sounds like fun. I think we should get an informal show of hands going and start to formulate a plan (is anyone else doing this?) I imagine we’ll have a pre-draft gathering at say ESPN zone… something like that.
Email me if you are interested and/or have any ideas, questions etc. wavesinair@yahoo.com

i’m about to go to sports chalet and purchase a bailey’s buddies bag…say that three times fast…and then, there’s a voucher in the bag you take to the staples box office and then you get yr tix…i think it’s two per bag redemption…BUT YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL JUNE before you get yr tix…:(((
all this for $19.95…
although i compliment the la kings for trying to get us all involved with a great club, this whole scenario reminds me of the david cross joke…:
“is this the line for beer…or the line for tickets to get beer…?”
their asking us to go on a scavenger hunt for all this…i’m not sure that this is the most economical (gas) and efficient way to do this…

The draft tickets are available for free for season ticket holders. We get two to sit in the 100 section. And we can get 4 more for the 300 section. These are all free & it’s first come first served when you get to the arena. I know I will be using only two so when I get mine I will asking anyone on this blog if they want the free 300 level ones.

The tickets will be available to download next week. Staples center is first come, first served. So I will be able to forward any extra tickets to somebody & then they just show up at Staples. The tickets are aparently good for all the days.

The golf thing sounded like he just gets frustrated by a game he obviously loves to play. The goof sounded like he gave away that he plays basketball when he has clearly is not suppose to. The cover up was very weak. Funny to me, but those with a huge investment in DD may fail to see the humor.
DD had the funnest moment I’ve ever seen a hockey player have in a relatively high profile interview. He was on hockey night in Canada (which in Canada is like a football player getting interviewed on Monday Night Football). He was talking about the first time he met the great one. On live TV he said “I couldn’t believe the first time I met Wayne I was standing there taking a piss”.
The Hockey Night in Canada broadcasters were shocked, but couldn’t help but laugh.

I just had the lunch of a LIFETIME!
Thanks to a buddy of mine who does business with Time/Warner, my friend and I just spent an hour at Toyota Sports Center with LUC ROBITAILLE! There were only about 8 of us there. Luc gave us a private tour of the ENTIRE facility, complete with locker room (Incredible!), equipment room, Dean & Hexy’s offices, Workout room, etc. Saw Dustin Brown with Kinger (Chris Kingsley) in the equipment room getting some sticks. Luc tried to get me a picture with him, but I didn’t want to bother him. We then had lunch in the room where KingsVision films a lot of their spots. Luc pointed out a bottle of champagne in a glass case he got 2 years ago that has an inscription on it. See my pictures to see what it says. He said he put it there to remind everyone every single day that the reason they are here is to win that cup.
Nobody else at the table really talked much, so I got to talk to Luc about hockey for about 30 minutes. Everything from the draft, to stories in Detroit and Scotty Bowman and the attitude of the franchise, to Fro, Doughty, Jack Johnson, Parse, Moller, Clifford. He acted like my best friend letting me in on things he knows I don’t have access to. He gave the tour with such enthusiasm, understanding how much it meant to us. After 30 years of being a fan, I have always heard stories on how great Luc is. None of them compare to the truth. One of the most humble, passionate, honest and caring people I believe I have ever met. He went out of his way to make us feel incredibly special. Not only that, I have pictures: http://s360.photobucket.com/albums/oo44/paincorp1/LucRobitailleLunch052710/
Make sure you check out the pics with Luc and the JURAJ MIKUS jersey! Yes, he did! Funny story too, I mentioned if he knew who Juraj Mikus was and the legend that follows him. Luc said ‘No, Who is he?”. I told him he is one of our prospects. Luc says “Which One?”. I’m laughing hysterically on the inside at this point and tell him that he centered Ziggy Palffy in the Slovakian league 2 years ago. Luc says “Oh Yeah! OK, now I know who you’re talking about.” Then I proceeded to tell him about the legend. He was all for taking the pictures. Classic stuff!
RICH – You now have a responsibility to clue Luc in to the legend that is Juraj Mikus. Find Heidi and make sure she tells Luc as well. I need to get all the stuff down and post it on a web page so he can breeze through it.
An AWESOME day! Luc & his staff are top notch. Andy & Jeff were very cool and hospitable. If there is one thing I truly got from our lunch today is that Luc is SEVERELY dedicated to building up the LA Kings brand and bringing us a cup any way possible. The things he said about some of the players were very insightful and interesting. I’ll have to post some tidbits up later.
Anyway, had to share. Fans need to know what a great organ-eye-zation we have.

The work he does for charities, the community, and the way he treats fans is just so special it is almost hard to believe. He just has such respect and appreciation for fans and what he has experience as a NHL player that is just amazing, plus he tells really great stories.
