TSN.ca reports today that Drew Doughty and Wayne Simmonds would like to represent Canada in the IIHF World Championships, which start May 7 in Germany. Doughty, of course, won a gold medal for Canada at this year’s Olympics, and both he and Simmonds won gold medals playing at the World Junior Championships. Canada has already named 15 players to its roster — Mark Messier is the GM — but can add 10 more before the tournament. There’s no word on whether any other Kings wish to participate in the tournament. Last year, Doughty played for Canada, Dustin Brown, Peter Harrold and Jack Johnson played for the United States, Michal Handzus and Juraj Mikus played for Slovakia and Alexander Frolov played for Russia.
