FINAL: Canucks 7, Kings 2

Vancouver took its four-goal lead back with a power-play goal at the 6:31 mark. Samuelsson fired a sharp wrist shot from the top of the right faceoff circle and beat Ersberg high and clean for his second goal of the game and his seventh goal of the series to make it 6-2.

After the goal, the Kings put Quick back in goal. Ersberg stopped 2 of 4 shots.

Bernier scored the final goal, 9:50 into the third period, off Quick.

If anything I hope the Kings can take notice for the future of how the Canucks aren’t letting up with the lead in the third.

I’ll be honest, I’m disappointed but at the beginning of the year I pretty much expected a rough ride if they made the playoffs. They have to learn somehow.

The problem this series is that we tend to sit and watch the Canucks pass the puck to open players…goaltending hasn’t been the problem; our players have sold Quick out. This team is one more scorer and two defensemen away (replacements for OD and Jones)….However, don’t count this team out yet.

Tough loss but shows you the depth of the Kings. One line and young D that cant get it out! Kings have always been 2 or 3 players short.
After 2nd period of game 4 its been all down hill WHY????
Need to play backup more during the season, its like taking a rookie pitcher out of a no hitter. Quick is tired period! And Van wants it more, shame on lazy (i can turn it on Kings) Bye bye

In one man’s opinion, this is a management problem. Tis the managment who decides the line up (including goaltenders) and these decisions have been horrible. Whenever something works, they have to tweak it cause winning is scary!!!!

Ive had Quicks back all year, but at this point I have no confidence in his ability to be mentally prepared for a playoff game. He played a hell of a game 1 but tonight he was not there. The 1st goal he didnt have a chance but the others he was out of position or should have gloved or blocked. Granted there were some outstanding top shelf /corner shots, but he is a big kid, stand up and get in the way of the puck. Also he COULD see the puck, he just got beat. Yeah go ahead and blame the team but your goalie has to be able to make some big saves for you to keep you in the game when your down and when he is like swiss cheese the team gets deflated. Even when we were down by 2 you could tell the team was really trying to get some goals/momentum and get back in the game but one after another we got scored on. Even if we do get past Van we are screwed because JQ can’t step it up consistently. To me there is no other choice then to call up JB right now, he is playing well. Also I love Ryan Smyth but he has been lumbering around this series and getting drilled. I would expect a lot more big game from him considering his experience in the playoffs and history of being gritty, at least fight back and don’t get pinned behind the net, then skate away at half speed, its like he has lost the will to battle, reminds me of an old gretzky minus the assists. Modin and Zuess have been awesome. Kopi made an amazing play tonight skating around the goal holding onto to the puck and no one got open in front of the net for him except scuds who through no fault of his own isnt exactly a sniper, WTF???? Its gonna be an easy call as far as who stays and who goes in the off season.

  26. jesse says:

Kick jones and williams back out. Bring the lines back to what has worked and bring JB back up from manchester and we will take this series and go deep….

But that would bring success, don’t do that…

  27. goldielocks says:

Hahaha … no matter how many goals they scored they still took only one game. By the way, who won the giveaway contest? OD or Jones? OD looked like a table hockey out there. And Ersberg seemed to copy Quick’s high glove side. That was a funny stuff. Kings can regroup but goaltending is the biggest concern now.

Sorry, folks, but another example of TM screwing with the lines. I guess winning games 2 and 3 were too much for him to bear so we got musical chairs again. Also, Quick let in 4 goals (3 were stoppable) , gets pulled,, Ersberg lets in 2 and gets pulled. Great coaching—not. Go back to the lines in 2 and 3…and the rest of the team might react positively. Tonite’s game looked like Manchester south. It was ugly.

Let’s see if the boys have the guts to play hard in game 6 and take it to the Canucks. We badly need to take the next game. Even if we go 7 and lose, I would consider this a successful return to the playoffs. Vancouver is a damn good team – taking them to the brink would be a great confidence builder for next year. And who knows – the Kings have surprised us all year, maybe they have saved the best for last….. Also, I am glad that someone earlier here called out Smyth. I have been a broken record about him in the last several days – his lack of production, lack of fight, and, yes, lack of effort have been as unacceptable as it has been surprising. I know that he deservedly has been a sacred cow here all year, but if this is the best six million dollars can deliver at crunch time, then I would hope that DL would consider whether he can spend that money in more productive ways next year. Feel free to rip me for daring to criticize Captain Canada, but he has stunk up the place and I am sick of it.

Ilove how the haters only post after losses. We did not play our system tonight. Quick had an off night it happens. I think most of you want them to lose so you can bitch about it. How about keeping a skater on. samuelson. If quick is so bad why was the media raving about him earlier in the week. Cynic is the only one that was posting before the playoffs. The rest of you are bandwagoners so put a cork in it. BTW adi are you JBs mother? You have posted the same take for the month. Get a new one. I cant wait until we win on sunday and we dont have to listen to all of this tired rhetoric. We are a young team. It would be sheer idiocy to deal away our young talent at this point patience is virture which most of you lack. If we bring up JB now it affects his RFA and UFA status. Its.a loss get over it. Coaches couch players play. We blew assignments all nightacross the board. Have a little pride or get off the bandwagon. We dont want you here. Kings in 7

@hbfan…Thank god you got some common sense and patience. As a King fan since 73 I have never been happier with this organization then now. For so long this franchise pissed away money on free agents and traded away young talent like it was nothing. people talk about the Gretzky trade to St.Louis being bad but it was nothing compared to trading away 20 year old Larry Murpy for a quick fix, without question the biggest blunder ever. But with DL in charge here, I am 99% sure that ignorant moves wont happen anymore. Keep the faith Kings fans, we will be elite alot faster then you think !

Quick had an off night? ha.
    Coaching is brutal. Quick sucks.
I actually think Murray’s putting Quick back in was a stab from Murray to Lombardi. I honestly do.
Mac T said he would never do this. Panger said it is totally an option and Bob Mackenzie said Bernier’s numbers were unheard of in the AHL.
Murray is handcuffed by Lombardi’s season long desire for Quick. I actually feel bad for Murray.
Lombardi is hanging us out to dry.
Murray and the team is being hung out to dry. His hands are tied because of Lombardi’s love affair with Quick. Murray had no other choice but to sell Quick out and put him back in during the 3rd. Coaching staff has no confidence in either goalie.
Dean is proving to be weak. Make the call Dean

Remember, this summer we are going to upgrade this team (cough…kovalchuk). We didn’t want to give away the farm for a rental and Bernier will not be ready until next year. So, we do the best we can with what we have and get some valuable playoff experience for the youngsters.

At the draft, we package our #1 with one or more players to move up. Then we spend like drunken sailors to lock up our keepers and bring in new talent.

At least this is what helps me sleep at night……

2 games in a row is what’s needed. If it were the Kings in the season where they went on that 9 winning streak tear I’d say it’s definitely possible. I think it will go to 7 but that’s about it. I hope I’m wrong I would like to get to the 2nd round. Every time OD handles the puck i cringe. He constantly coughs it up and makes the lamest passes that usually get picked off.

There were a lot of players running around on the ice last night, and only one of them was named Quick. He obviously didn’t stand on his head, but to focus in on just him is incredible. You people have short memories. He basically kept the Kings in games 1-3. Besides, you pull him, and the replacement gives up two goals on four shots–I’ve got a pretty good idea Quick is NOT the only problem here.

Quick looked like swiss cheese out there! Not to mention a 5 on 3 that your top “guy’s” had and did nothing with it! That was in fact the turning point of the game.

Williams doesn’t get power play time, Murray makes him work 5 on 5 for everything that’s why his stats aren’t padded like the others.
