As you have probably noticed in the past few days, the blog can get very slow, or even go down, at certain important times. I apologize for that, and I can assure you of two things: one, it’s being worked on, and two, nobody is more frustrated about it than me. Quite frankly, there are so many of you reading and interacting that it’s straining the server, so that’s amazing. Your loyalty has blown away expectations, but it also needs to be rewarded with a quality product, so that’s priority No. 1 for me right now. Thanks again for your patience and all your tremendous support!
THANK YOU!!!! RICH for all you do for us Kings fans and the best blog in the NHL.
[Reply]
no problem here Rich….after a very few seconds at the sign-in page, the site comes up
thanx for all your work!
[Reply]
No, thank you for this information overload!
[Reply]
Your welcome
[Reply]
Only problem I’ve been having is that the blog stopped pushing RSS feeds last Friday. Don’t know if that is related?
[Reply]
I LOVE that the servers got upgraded to avoid this and we still broke it! I blame Rich for having such an amazing blog!
[Reply]
We trust that you have our best interests in mind Rich!! Keep the boatloads of info, interviews and quotes coming!!
[Reply]
Rich, no need to appologize. We all should be thanking you, so: Thanks Rich!!
[Reply]
RICH
I cannot thank you enough for the info you provide until late into the nite! When do you sleep or better yet, how do you type and eat at the same time?
Thanks, Rich!
[Reply]
It’s been our pleasure Rich! Thanks for all of the great info!
[Reply]
Tony RSS feeds aren’t coming through because the feed address changed. I was having the same problem.
[Reply]
someone get google on the phone! they have amazing server farms. But thanks for saying something rich, i was only trying to help by pointing out things that where going on.
[Reply]
Heres a question for you Rich; Would it be fair to say that the Kings organization has been blown away by the loyal following you’ve managed to acquire in one season? I hope the answer is a definitive yes
[Reply]
As always, thanks Rich!
[Reply]
you’re an employee of the Kings, which makes AEG your boss… you’d think they could maintain a server that could keep the hockey population of Los Angeles happy… it’s not like this is a Laker blog… or a Dodger blog. LOL. Seriously… this should be top of mind for SOMEONE in the organ-eye-zation… and not your concern. You just keep feeding us the details…
Helluva ride, Rich!
[Reply]
RICH…
don’t worry, we will manage…
…(i think!)…
thanks for everything you do for us…:)
[Reply]
Thanks Rich for all your work!
Good to hear Randy Jones will play tonight. I believe he is more offensive minded defender and a great left handed shot. We need to pepper Lu tonight and put home all those rebounds he is coughing up.
GO KINGS GO!!!
[Reply]
Wait who said Jones is playing? I never saw that?? And jones shoots? And when he does will he hit the net?
[Reply]
It’s your own fault Rich. You’re waaaay too good and waaaay to informative for your own good.
What server in history can handle every single Kings fan camped on this site hitting refresh every two and a half minutes.
[Reply]
“I LOVE that the servers got upgraded to avoid this and we still broke it!”
The hosting company, Host Monster, doesn’t even offer dedicated servers. So the “upgrade” was never an upgrade.
It’s very simple: The site needs it’s own server and then there won’t be these problems. Hopefully someone competent is now in charge on the technical end.
[Reply]
We’ll make it through Rich!
Thanks for everything you do!!!!
[Reply]
Yeah the only problem I have had was that its not going to my reader page anymore. NHL has said that the LA Kings website is 2nd in the league in visitors per day and Vancouver has the most. It should be expected that 1) more people than usual would visit during playoffs and 2) Rich’s blog is the reason for traffic.
[Reply]
Rich, thanks for the update…….KINGS fans rule
[Reply]
ur famous
[Reply]
And even worse, add the Vancouver fans (who visit nhl.com the most, so I’m sure lots of them visit here for info on us like I visit their blogs), and it’s a perfect storm of obsessive blog reading! I love the playoffs!
[Reply]
Rich, if it weren’t for your time & great work I would be stuck to below par news clips that give me 1-2 sentences of info……..So thank you!
If you ever come up to Montana & wanna see Glacier National Park, hit me up!
[Reply]
Thanks for the update on what’s going on with the blog Rich, I figured you couldn’t be too pleased at the lack of functionality during the most important time of the season!
I’m sure I’m not helping things by visiting 25-50 times a day during the playoffs, haha
[Reply]
Thanks Rich, but being my greedy self can I have some more now? Can’t get enough
Thanks,
[Reply]
No need to apologize Rich! You are doing a great job! Thank you!!!!!
[Reply]
Jason, Thanks! Didn’t notice that!
[Reply]
Tip of the Bauer helmut to the network guy behind the scenes having to fix all these problems.
[Reply]
Btw…..what’s the chances of getting an autographed copy of one of your articles?? Lol
[Reply]
I have more problems with Canuck fans who think there is a conspiracy then I do with your website loading properly.
[Reply]
We should all go visit Vancouvers website at the same time and take it down! Is that considered cyber terrorism?
[Reply]
No problemo Sir Richie! Your hard work is worth the the little extra pain. Your a machine Rich!
[Reply]
You have taken our King’s info to a new level!!
we now have the best play by play, best color & best blog in the business!! Go Kings!!
[Reply]
Rich–you are so professional with this blog–we can easily understand the problems–this blog is our lifeline and no other organization has this, we love it –we love your dedication!
[Reply]
No problem. I love this site, and I love the work you do. Awesome!
MKF
[Reply]
No worries, Rich. These slow downs are the only way I’m getting any work done (as I’m typing this at work).
[Reply]
Rich is a pHost Monster!
[Reply]
Matt R, if we do that the suicide rate in Vancouver will go through the roof tonight when they lose. They have to have someplace to get out their whining. What would happen if they actually got called for interference or head shots? LOL
[Reply]
There are probably countless employers out there that would benefit from having the server go down during business hours. They wouldn’t understand why productivity would go suddenly ramp up in the middle of the day.
[Reply]
I was just wondering – at the autographing events like the season ticket holder event or Tip-a-King, besides the players, the announcers also autograph. Bob Miller, Darryl Evans, Nick Nickson & Jim Fox. It’s not a stretch to see Rich Hammond added to that list as he is becoming an on air & website personality. Rich, can you imagine seeing yourself sitting at a table & autographing with these guys next year?

[Reply]
KingVern, I wouldn’t put it past ‘nuck fans to intentionally take down the “server”.
[Reply]
As many of us have said, the thanks first and foremost should go to you for all that you do for us Kings fans. I’m sure most of us that frequent the blog can impatiently be patient while things get worked out. I know when I first noticed it a few days ago I was freaking out that I couldnt gain access… and this was at 1AM!!!! I love it. Thanks again for all that you do.
[Reply]
As the Kings go further in the playoffs so will this blog!!! Let’s make it #1!
[Reply]
no need to apologize rich. you are doing us all a great service. keep it up and go kings!
[Reply]
Rich Hammond is the man.
[Reply]
It’s all good Rich… 2009-2010 season starts with a new blog, and ends up with the kings making the playoffs… just sayin!
[Reply]
Rich, you’re doing a fantastic job! We appreciate everything you do to make this such a great site!
[Reply]
After years of scouring the LA Times for tidbits of news I don’t mind waiting 2 seconds for the server to fire up — thanks for all you do Rich!
[Reply]
Thanks for all you do Rich. We’ll manage to get through while you guys get things figured out on the tech end. It’s your hard work and interviews that keep us rolling!
[Reply]
Ahhh, this blog is an addiction anyway so it’ll probably do us all good to get pushed away for a bit.
Thanks for everything you do Rich. We have the best damn insider in the whole NHL!
[Reply]
Rich, you think you have site problems NOW, just wait until the Kings win the Cup!!!
[Reply]
@ King Homer
Right there with you. I used to check latimes.com every day, but I hardly bother anymore.
[Reply]
Hammond in for Jones!
[Reply]
You’re the best Rich.Keep up the good work!
[Reply]
You know Tim Liwikie, get him to write you a company check. Tell him to pick a number between 1 & 9 and add 5 zeros behind it. That should help for at least 3 months
If you simply insured Juraj Mikus as your webmaster….
When you meet with Gary Bettman, tell him you’re willing to sell him propaganda adspace on the site for the conspiracies he has for hurting Canadian fans. THis should net you a cool six figures. If he doesn;t work out, there’s always Jim Balsille.
If you could have Juraj Mikus simply touch your server, this blog would instantly pop up on every computer screen in the world……and never leave. I’m ready for that.
You do one helluva job Rich and so does the cast that hired you. Being a Kings fan has never been better. I’ll never be able to thank you all enough. I just hope you’re ready when we make it to the finals…..and actually WIN!
[Reply]
you’re the man rich
[Reply]
@ CaptJam
Post of the Week! ROTFL
[Reply]
thank you, and your welcome
go kings!
[Reply]
We’ve been waiting over 40 years for a Stanley Cup.
You’ll find we’re pretty patient.
[Reply]
Thanks for the update Rich..I thought it was
me and my poor online phone skills
[Reply]
Time to install eAccelerator!
[Reply]
Rich-
This blog situation is entirely your fault. If you had not acquired such a huge following that you brought with you to this site, this never would have been a problem! This is a testimony to not only your incredible and exhaustive efforts, but to the infomation-hungry Kings Fans. We appreciate your interest in fixing this problem, but we are all happy just to have a site that provides what we are looking for, even if it is slow sometimes. Remember, a few minor quirks is better than no info at all, which is what a lot of us fans have dealt with for years and years. Go Kings!
[Reply]
Thanks Rich for putting together such a great blog. Hockey coverage for the Kings in LA has been sorely lacking until you joined the organization. Keep up the great work.
[Reply]
No, THANK YOU!!
Now, let’s break the server tonight!!
[Reply]
No need to apologize Rich!
[Reply]
Awe, yet another painful offshoot of winning! Sorry Rich, gotta take the lows with the highs! May the highs keep getting higher and the lows be few and far between, for your sake and all of us rabid playoff crazed Kings fans!
[Reply]
Thanks Rich for excellent blog.
I am sure also some slovenian fans follow it.
We have very good coverage of LA kings this days in Slovenia.
Public TV – RTV Slovenia has live results of KIngs games on their web site – even if the games start 4 AM local time.
A lot of fans watch games live on cable TV over ESPN America or over internet broadband.
After last win there were more than 70 comments among other also some very good analyzes.
Our national team plays this days a world championship division 1 in Ljubljana. After wins again Poland, Croatia and Great Britain is Right now it is in progress game 4 against Corea. We have lead after 1st 3:0. On friday there will be progress game against Hungary. If we win we will return in Elite 16 teams group, where we travel up and down year by year. It is difficult to play without your best player and as I see for many years we can not count on Kopi who will be with Kings in run for Stanley cup late in May- June. Pitty but I prefer to watch double dose of hockey – first our national team and then Kings each second day.
Go Kings and win for 3:1 in series.
[Reply]
It’s all good! a good thing is worth waiting for IMO
[Reply]
It is only of reflection of the product that is being provided.
Thanks Rich!
[Reply]
If Canuck fans are responsible for the server crashing, then it MUST be a conspiracy at the highest level!! Someone needs to get on this quick!!
Oh, and seriously, as always thank you soo much for all the hard work you do for us Rich!! These playoffs would not be same without ya!!
[Reply]
Thank you Rich for this site! The site having the problems it does is just a sign that you have done amazing work in only your first year! Congrats, and thanks again!
[Reply]
thanks for the feedback. Great site i enjoy reading it.
[Reply]
Not surprising considering the amazing coverage that Rich provides us on a daily basis. If the Kings continue their winning ways the server may just blow up.
[Reply]
From your fanz in Oahu, keep up the good work Rich. ALOHA
[Reply]
This site has blown away all expectations because Rich has blown away all expectations. Amazing blog site, but there is in the NHL.
Looking forward to the upgrade.
[Reply]
but= best*
[Reply]
Rich, Thanks for your good work. I am sure things will improve and we can all enjoy the use of this site with few issues. It is just a blip on the screen for the best Kings site. We all are appreciative to the tireless hours you put in to making it fun and interesting to log on. Go Kings Go
[Reply]
Rich, A testament to the great work that you do for us.
[Reply]
Mr. Hammond,
People read it because you provide them a great product. So even though it sux that the technical side of things is not up to the task [whoever you are, you know who you are], the problems are a complement to great work you do.
