Fines issued

TSN has reported that Vancouver defenseman Shane O’Brien and coach Alain Vigneault have been fined — $2,500 and $1,000, respectively — for the ongoing pregame shenanigans between the Kings and Canucks. O’Brien apparently shot a shot toward Jeff Halpern during warmups before Game 3, although O’Brien told reporters today that he was only joking around with Halpern, a former teammate. There was also an incident, before Game 3, between the Kings’ Rich Clune and Vancouver’s Ryan Kesler, but I haven’t been able to confirm whether there were fines issued for that incident.

In other Canucks news, Nolan Baumgartner is expected to replace Aaron Rome on defense in the only lineup change tonight.

You see? That’s part of the NHL’s grand conspiracy against the Canucks! First, there was Too Many MenGate, then there was War RoomGate, and now they’re trying to finish of the ‘Nucks by depriving them of per diems while they’re in LA so they can’t afford to eat properly, and they’ll have low blood sugar going into Game 4!

Yes, this was a joke. But y’know, madness has its own momentum.

Vigneault was fined for excessive crying. Part of the fine is to include him having to buy a “playoff package” of kleenex for the rest of the series.

I posted this on the previous article but given Rich’s comment I thought I would share the incident here.

Wanted to share some interesting pre-game drama that occured during last game’s shoot-around. Ryan Kesler was skating over the center line into the King’s area, over and over. He even caused O’Donnell to move around him. Suddenly Clune decided to skate towards him and Clune proceeded to spear Kesler’s backside with his stick. They stopped and started yapping. I thought they were going to have a fight before going back to their respective locker rooms. The officials were not even on the ice yet.

Clune then skated away and Kesler skated over to the penalty box area to talk to an official, all the while pointing towards Clune.

This may be something to watch tonight during the pre-game shoot-around.

Release the hounds! Go Kings Go.

I saw the Clune/Kessler thing. Clune chirped at Kessler a bit, seemed like Kessler chirped a bit back, then Clune flicked Kessler just above the butt/below the jersey with his stick. Not a slash or a chop, just an annyoing flick kind of thing. Kessler went to the penalty boxes to talk to some one in there, as if to say “did you see that”, then said something to a teammate too. Nothinhg more than that, though if the Nucks guys were fined Clune could be too.

Off topic but check this excerpt:

“The Kings on the power play with Doughty and Johnson at the helm have been like Kobe Bryant getting the ball with the time running out or Manny Ramirez going up to bat with the bases loaded. You drop whatever you’re doing and watch them because you know there’s a good chance you’re going to see something special.”

The league issued new rules for the pre-games in this years play-offs because of what happened between Chicago and Calgary last year. I knew about them and I am not even in the league.

I think they also issue fines for questioning the calls on the ice after the game. Take more of their money!! They are not deserving anyway!

Coach Vinegarette was fined because he is the coach and is responsable for his players, the team was also fined an undisclosed amount its called poor sportsmanship. Vancouter fans need to honest with themselves and stop looking for exterior excuses and look within. They dominated a division of weak teams this leads to there over rating. Phoenix had more points that them, they are a weak division leader. Oilers, fLames etc. This is what happens when you have to face teams from a much much stronger division. Blame it on everything but your sorry a** team. Its also sad to see the NHL scoring leader is a guy with 30 some goals, also weak. This team is ripe for the picking. Lets do some picking tonight.

This is just another example of the NHL and Bettman being overly aggressive to Canadian teams and the Vancouver Canucks in general. I am so sick and tired of the blantant one sided descisions in this serious against the Canucks. This is a team who plays gritty and hard every single game, is not dirty than any other club, yet they get smacked harder than anyone else. What Kings got punished in this? THEY’RE INNOCENT. I call Bull**** and might not continue to support the NHL after this series.

Jesus I’ve read a lot ‘Nuck crybaby suckface crap.

i Watched the warm up and I did see Clune and Kesler!

Clune and Kesler were both skating by each other at center ice … then as soon as Kesler passes by Clune, Clune gives him a hook right in his belly. very harmful one and Clune had a huge smile on his face. Kesler just turned around and he didn’t have a clue what was going on. then it was over Clune just wanted to see him get tempered.
I didn’t see the Halpern situation.
