Smyth postgame quotes

Ryan Smyth’s postgame thoughts…

(on his long-range goal in the third period…)
SMYTH: “Well, my first NHL goal was from the blue line, so I think I’ll remember that one forever. But that was a little ways out, and obviously it was toward the end of a shift. I just wanted to get it on net. I think it went off his skate and then just a seeing-eye shot, like their goal too.”

(on having to leave the game in the first period after a hit…)
SMYTH: “My leg went numb for a split second. I’m fine. It just came back. It was nothing serious.”

(on the long shift before his goal…)
SMYTH: “It felt like a long time, but it was nice to see it go in. They were starting to press at the time, too.”

Smytty isnt great along the boards but he’s all heart in front of the goal and that’s something the Kings lacked up to this season. Glad he got rewarded.

On another note, Manchester went up 3-0 in their series by winning in OT, 2-1. Bernier stopped 37 of 38 shots. Damn we have some fine goalies now.

Ryan Smyth…Thank Dean when ya see him for that trade and too Ryan for waiving his no trade clause. Ryan Smyth is a veteran and a team 1st guy like a lot of the players that are currently on this team. Smyth will always go in front of the net and try to be involved in a goal directly or indirectly..He’s a Warrior !

The puck flew more like a frisbee with eyes than a knuckle ball. Great to see Smyth get rewarded though. He’s been taking a bunch of rough hits in this series.

Thank God he’s okay. I was at the game and without commentary, when he was wobbly on the ice, I thought that perhaps he had a hit to his head.

But he was out the next shift. and made a great (important) goal. As someone said on King’s Talk tonight, DL knew what he was doing when he signed veterans like Symty, Willy, Moddin and Halperin. DD and JJ stole the limelight but the veterens made it possible. Tonight must have been paydirt of Dean. Brilliance DL! We see it.

That was quite a curveball. I couldn’t believe it went in. Neither could Raycroft.

The next big conspiracy theory: REMOTE CONTROLLED PUCKS!!

The NHL, in an effort to pre-determine games, has designed a remote control puck. Obviously they NHL brass does not want Vancouver to advance so they remotely guided that puck past Raycroft. They would later redirect every Nucks shot away from Quick’s high glove side.

Unfortunately Jared Stoll’s slapshot has proven to be uncontrollable, and he has therefore been removed from potential scoring situations.

Smitty has been getting hammered all series. I just hope he can go the distance this series and keep his level of play up. Keep grinding Smitty!

Smytty got his bell rung big time. When he was skating off like Bambi I thought I smelled a concussion… Even his first shift was on auto pilot, the lights were on but nobody was quite home yet! Way to be a hockey player!
