Jack Johnson’s postgame thoughts…
(on the secret to the power-play success…)
JOHNSON: “There’s no secret to it at all. We’re just taking what’s given. Drew and I, especially at the top, we need to try to be able to create things for the forwards. If we had a chance to shoot, we did. If one of us couldn’t shoot, just keep moving it around, and we just kept moving. One thing we didn’t want to do was stand still.”
(on whether he’s surprised to be up 2-1 in the series…)
JOHNSON: “No, I’m not surprised. They’re a great hockey team. We were planning on a seven-game series when it started, and we’re fortunate that we’re up 2-1 right now. We’re going to enjoy it tonight, but we’re going to get back to business tomorrow, because we know that the next game could easily go into another overtime. You’ve got to prepare for that.”
This game reminded me of the Olympics – fast paced, lots of heavy hitting – and so I think the fact that some of our core leaders experienced this kind of play in the Olympics is serving them well.
Great efforts as usual by Richardson and Zeus, Halpern was solid on the PK, Greener is always tough as nails..
We just need to generate more on the 5-on-5 play and we need to do a MUCH better job on faceoffs; H. Sedin and Kesler took our centers to school all game, and that created a lot of problems, especially in the 3rd.
Great win, boys, now rest up and right back on top of em Wednesday!

I put it on the last post but it probably applies more here. The biggest improvement I see from JJ is taking more wristers, getting them on goal, and generating rebounds. That’s how both both of Zeus’s goals were scored tonight. Keep it up JJ

Faceoffs were the biggest problem for the Kings tonight. Everthing else was strong. Perfect special teams.
Johnson and Doughty on the point is amazing. Took Murray 83 games to figure it out, but I’m glad that be finally did.

JJ is really playing smart in this series and its nice ta see. But what I really wanna know is why did JJ diss Heidi Androll again for an interview after he was voted 1st star of the game ? This is the 2nd time he has done this…Anybody….

The PP is really working and I agree it’s because they are moving around, keeping their feet in motion more. Perfect on the PP, got to love it.
What I don’t love is waiting for this re-fresh, and I can tell, lots of people are having a hard time logging on. I said it once today, I’ll say it again. I don’t get it. Why the low bandwidth? Why is it necessary? All it has done is keep the number of posts low. I’ll log off and let someone else more patient go at it. I’ll get early and read the good vibes. Good nite all.

@puck73
When JJ passed interview before, he went inot the locker room get icing on his knee(?) immediately. And I saw some discussion was going on between JJ and staff from broadcast(?) before announcer introduced 3 stars tonight. My guess is aftercare is very important for JJ and he was excused. He was accepting interview in the locker room afterward tho.

JMFJ rocked tonight….He wanted Drew to take the questions from Heidi

The last few weeks have been a coming out party for JMFJ. What a future we have in store for us.

Actually I think the announcers and the tv crew had the stars mixed up. I think the tv crew was expecting Doughty to get number one and Heidi started to come out on the ice after Doughty not realizing that the number one star had not been called yet. The TV crew was probably just explaining the mixup to JJ.

Maybe it’s a Michigan-Michigan State thing.
Whatever works!

Not only is Jack playing great, but his head is in the right place. His approach to the series, and his confidence are a result of a rapid maturation. Lombardi has done well to fill this team with heart and soul players, and it’s such a treat to see the Kings finally play like this. From it’s emerging stars to it’s wily vets, this team is fun to watch.

@ BrooklynKing
Right on! Great chemistry right now on this team.

I think JJ is a big game kind of player. By that I mean that the higher the stakes, the better he plays. I use the current Olympics as a recent example. It also seems that he’s having a ton of fun out there, and thing are just clicking out there with DD at side.
As for DD, just plain FEARLESS, and having a ton of fun out there.
Hopefully this is only the tip of the iceberg from our dynamic duo.

JJ just might be giving DD face time to better his chances for the Norris.

I always wondered why Jack wasn’t on the first defensive pair for the power play until recently. I was never a fan of teams that use a forward at the point, unless their team is lacking talent at the defenseman position, an issue the Kings clearly do not have.
