A favorite topic among a segment of Kings fans is — no, not Ilya Kovalchuk — the play of Randy Jones. Jones, in his last four games, has not recorded a point and has a minus-4 rating. Terry Murray was asked today, as he frequently is, about Jones’ play and the possibility of getting Davis [...]
No concession
The standings would suggest that the battle for fourth place in the Western Conference is over, with the San Jose Sharks sitting seven points head of the Kings with 11 games remaining (the Kings have one game in hand). Although, given the free fall that the Sharks have been in, who knows, right? The Kings, [...]
Them again?
The Kings-Avalanche mini-series continues tomorrow in Denver, in the back end of a home-and-home set. Terry Murray talked today about what he anticipates being different with tomorrow’s game… MURRAY: “Probably line matchups will be a little bit of a different look, I think. Duchene against Kopi, they might want to get away from that. It’s [...]
Shooting gallery
Before Monday’s game, Terry Murray talked about the importance of the Kings increasing their shot total and, within that, getting more a “net presence.” Well, the Kings generated four goals, but their shot total actually dipped from the previous game, from 26 to 23. Murray postgame quotes
Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts… (on the win…) MURRAY: I’m pleased with the win. That’s the most important things out of any hockey game, is getting the two points. Better game for us. Better game. Smyth postgame quotes
Ryan Smyth’s postgame thoughts… (on the win…) SMYTH: “This is a big two points. They battled hard right until the end, and they capitalized with six seconds left. Doughty postgame quotes
Drew Doughty’s postgame thoughts… (on getting two points after giving up the late goal…) DOUGHTY: “Obviously it was pretty disappointing. We can’t be letting those goals in late in the game like that. The last minute of periods are very important, and especially the third period. So getting that win was huge, but a little [...]
