Terry Murray said Jonathan Quick will start in goal tomorrow, even though Murray had some criticism for Quick’s first-period play. The Kings tied the game with a power-play goal with 1:21 remaining in regulation. Jarret Stoll shot through traffic and Alexander Frolov, in front of the net, was credited with deflecting the puck past Anderson.

After a scoreless second period, the Kings pulled within 3-2 with a power-play goal 40 seconds into the third period. Drew Doughty shot from the middle of the ice, just inside the blue line, with heavy traffic in front and beat Anderson.

Shots were 9-6 Avalanche in the second period. The Kings will be on the power play for the first 1:54 of the third period.

Shots were 18-5 Avalanche in the first period, and the Kings were called for 10 minutes’ worth of penalties in the period. Colorado will be on the power play for the first 1:20 of the second period.

The Avalanche scored another power-play goal with 1:52 remaining in the first period. Drew Doughty broke his stick and was playing with Michal Handzus’ stick when Paul Stastny centered a puck. The Kings’ streak of 29 consecutive killed penalties ended with 6:39 remaining in the first period, with Brad Richardson in the penalty box for a double-minor high-sticking penalty. The teams exchanged goals in short order in the first period. Colorado’s Darcy Tucker has been suspended for one game — tomorrow’s game against the Kings — for “making excessive physical contact on an icing play.” Tucker was called for tripping Matt Greene on the play, 10:13 into the third period.

As previously posted, Terry Murray announced today that Jonathan Quick will start both games on this road trip, Wednesday at Colorado and Thursday at St. Louis.
