Murray postgame quotes

Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…

(on the failed 5-on-3…)
MURRAY: “They did a great job with it. You’ve got to give those guys a lot of credit for their penalty kill, but on the other side of it, when you have a 5-on-3, that’s a critical moment in the game, and that’s when you have to show the composure to make plays, find people, get the right shooting opportunities and then put pucks to the net. That’s a choice, and obviously in that look we made some decisions that were not as good as what they could have been.”

(on the power play…)
MURRAY: “Well, the power play, percentage-wise, has been really good. Since we came back from the Olympic break, we’re one of the top teams in the league, percentage-wise. There has to be different looks. You’ve got to talk about it and obviously address it and review it and show video and talk about different kinds of positioning. That’s no different than what you would do as you get into a playoff look. You’ve got to adjust every game. We’ve got another game tomorrow. We’ve got to get right back at it. Everything about our game tonight, I liked on our 5-on-5. The intensity, the urgency that was shown in the game was really good. We had lots of good things happening. Parse gets a couple goals. I just wish we had been able to build on that second goal that tied it.”

(on the penalty kill…)
MURRAY: “The first goal Nolan gets, you don’t want to see that one. That’s just throwing a puck to the net and it goes through a couple people. On Havlat’s goal, we made a wrong decision on that one. Too many guys chasing the puck-carrier as he entered the zone. That comes right to us. It wasn’t a great play by Minnesota. It was more a breakdown on our part of it.”

(on playing another game tomorrow…)
MURRAY: “That’s the way it is. I liked the way we played. We came out doing the right stuff. We had four lines. We had everybody contributing. You’ve just got to keep going now.”

(on being frustrated by not getting points out of efforts he’s happy with…)
MURRAY: “That’s not frustrating at all. That’s what we need. That’s a real positive. The special teams, we need to improve.”
