Matt Greene will return to the Kings’ lineup tonight, likely in place of Randy Jones. It also appears that Scott Parse will be in, in place of Rich Clune, but we’re still waiting to talk to Terry Murray for confirmation.
Jonathan Bernier was scheduled to arrive here at noon, so he wasn’t on the ice. We’ll see what the goalie plan is when Murray speaks.
Rich-
Do Quick or Ersberg appear to be injured at all??? That would answer an important question.

@Cynic,
Quick sure looks tired and Murray doesn’t appear to believe in Ersberg. Hence, Bernier will start tonight.

@Sydor25, We’ve been told repeatedly that Quick is not tired.

Randy out of the lineup is good news! Greene back in is even better news for the PK unit.
I’m sure Bernier will start tonight and depending on his performance, may play tomorrow.
This call up now leaves the Kings with only 2 left for the season, right?

Nah, Bernier will not play both games, he played yesterday too. He’s not playing 3 games in a row lol

@Sydor25, they haven’t even told us WHY they did it. We have no idea if it’s an emergency or not.

It’s funny, a few weeks ago, the Kings had 4th place in their view.
Now an 9th place dissapointment is a reality. It probably won’t happen, but even 8th place is very likely.
They have been horrible lately. If Brad Richardson keeps playing on the top line and turning the puck over, they might as well throw in the towel now.

@Kevin from Toronto, I highly doubt Brad Richardson’s play will single handedly make us throw in the towel.
this is after all a team game, and the team as a whole has not been playing well.

@griddle,
Well when he is getting top tier minutes and giving the puck away with stupid behind the back passes…
I know the whole team hasn’t played well, but he has single handidly lost 2 games in the past 2 weeks…

@Kevin from Toronto, In fact, 9th place is highly unlikely. The oddsmakers put the Kings’ playoffs chances at 99.5% after the last loss. Interestingly enough, their best odds are still for 5th place.

@What’s the frequency, Kenneth?, I don’t care what the odds makers say. The Avalanche, Canucks, Predators, and Coyotes are all teams the Kings can’t seem to beat, and they play each of those teams still this year.
They will probably make it… but unfortunatly, they’ve just been so bad since the Olympics. They get scored on 5 minutes into every game and have to play catch up the rest of the way.
Their once ‘can’t do anything wrong’ mentality has now turned in to ‘can’t do anything right’.
Jeff Halpern sucks and he’s on the 1st line?
If Frolov is ever going to live up to his potential, he needs to be on the top lines with the top players. And If Brad Richardson tries one more behind the back pass, I’m gonna lose my mind

Welcome back Greene, our Penalty Kill has missed you!!!!

I’d actually prefer to see Quick tonight and Bernier tomorrow. We need to throw something new at NSH.

@AZ King, I’d probably agree with you on that, but we still don’t know what happened. I suppose it’s possible Quick (or Ersberg) is suddenly unavailable.

Answer: Ersberg is suddenly unavailable.

i think Bernier will start tomorrow, not today. It’s clear that Quick shouldn’t play both games – he needs to rest one of the starts. Since Bernier didn’t get into town until after the morning skate, I don’t think he will start tonight. The Kings could have called him up yesterday if they wanted him to start tonight. My bet is that he starts tomorrow.

here is something to ponder as to how good the kings are and what they can do or not do in the playoffs
Good Teams have at least 65 pct of its players that can make 65 pct of the teams in the league
quick no isberg no greene yes johnson yes daughty of course jones no suderi yes on and on and on do the mental test and see if 65 pct of the roster passes

@backchecker, unreadable (yeah, I even tried.) No punctuation or capitalization.

I do not think that I am alone when I say that it is time for this team to step up and finish this. Sure it is new territory for most of the players on this roster – never having played in the playoffs – but this is where the vets step in (Smyth, Scuderi, O’Donnell, Modin, Halpern, Williams)- calm some nerves, prioritize, re-focus. It is time for the “future” to become the “present”. This team knows what it is capable of – able to skate, compete, and beat any team in this league. When was the last time any of us could say that about the Kings? Its time to put all the second-quessing away, to cut out all the B.S., stop making excuses. This is what we’ve all been waiting for. Its time for playoff hockey. Go Kings.

Why the hell does TM keep on swapping parse for Clune?? I was a big TM fan, but man, even I’m getting annoyed at not only the line combo changes, but the roster changes too… I thought TM was a Flyer type of guy, one who likes playing tough guys?? I guess I was wrong

@khanon, Parse has done more to earn ice time than Clune has. They play a different style of game yes… but Parse has earned the time, at present, Clune has not.

@khanon,
think he is trying to get some chemistry i don’t know how you do when you keep switching guys in and out of the line up but he has done this before in the season and it has worked its just the team don’t think its TM and about time Greene got back he was missed it’s not the same when DD, Jones, or Harrold are on d

@khanon, concur completely. Our lineup is soft.
The problem isn’t lack of skill in the lineup, it’s lack of heart. Who stood up for DB and JMFJ when they got run last game? No one.
And now without a Heavy or Middleweight in the lineup, we can be sure that no one will stand-up when we get run again tonight. Weak sauce.
TM, get some nads.

Yeah, its pathetic and embarssing.
At least we know that both the GM and the coach are on the same page- both like wimpy players….

They need to beat the Wild tonight. This is a team that the Kings should have no problem winning against. Then they need to kick the s#$t out of the Predators for once and get some momentum going for the rest of the season.

stop scratching toughness!
[Reply]
Oh ya and by the way where is the MF in JMFJ been?
[Reply]
You have to have tough guys to play tough guys. And yes Murray is all over the board..Exactly what we want in a coach leading a young team to their first playoff run in 7 years right? This man is 74 games into the season and we have not had 4 lines play together for 3 consecutive games..This is a continuity program.
