There’s increasing buzz around the league about Drew Doughty’s chances for winning the Norris Trophy, but what about other trophies? The Hart and Vezina trophies are probably out of reach, but what about the Selke, for top defensive forward? I asked Terry Murray today is he would consider any of his players as candidates.
MURRAY: “The player that you’d have to think of, for me anyway, would be Handzus. He’s matching up against tough lines, at critical times of the game. He’s a premier penalty killer and, at the same time, plays the other side of the game pretty effectively.”
because of work I really don’t watch other teams that aren’t playing the kings, but this one for me is a no-brainer… Zeus rocks!!!

The Stanley Cup is the only hardware I need the Kings to get.

I really like the way KOPI is playing defense this season. I think he will develop into one of the best 2-way players in the NHL in the next couple yrs

–OFF TOPIC ALERT–
The Yale Bulldogs have upset the North Dakota Fighting Sioux in the NCAA Eastern Regionals, 3-2! This is the first win for Yale in the NCAA Men’s Hockey playoffs since 1952, and takes out the top seed in the Eastern Regionals… Yale plays BC tomorrow night for a slot in the Frozen Four…
Bring a big Kings win tonight, and a Bakersfield Condors win tonight, and it will be one MIGHTY FINE Saturday Night for me and mine!

@BakoCAkingsCondorsGuy, Better than that… During today’s RIT game they commentators repeatedly discussed how unbelievable the goaltender was seeing as he didn’t see much/any play in high school.
Why? Because he was riding the bench at Avon Old Farms behind Jonathan Quick.

The best award that the any of the Kings can acheive is to win a game. I am tired of the excuses that everyone makes.
When was the last time other than Colorado that the Kings beat a playoff team?

@runningman,
Maybe the 5 game east coast trip, but the Kings seem content to back into the playoffs. If they continue to struggle to play .500 hockey, we stand a pretty good chance of being swept out of the first round.

To answer my own question. The last time the Kings beat a playoff team other than Colorado was on February 6th when they beat Detroit, however Detroit was not in the playoffs at that time.
It was on Sunday Janurary 31 against the New Jersey Devils. I was still nursing a New Years hangover at that time and now it will be April until they get another chance to beat a playoff team.

@runningman,
Wow, just a lot of nonsense here.
You were still nursing your New Years hangover 31 days after New Years? Yikes.
“Other than Colorado”? Why don’t they count?
Quite a roundabout way to say “We lost to Chicago and Nashville twice, and Montreal once.”
Also, they’ll get another chance to beat a playoff team on March 30th, not April.

@Dave,
You see my point, it has been a long time. You asked why do I not count Colorado? Colorado is behind the Kings in the standings. I just want them to beat a good team. It is what it is.
I do appreciate your concern.

OK Rich, I am officially asking that you look into how many times runningman has made this same point about the Kings against “playoff teams”.
This post is one of many that “continually expresses the same singular opinion.
No offense runningman, but really, you have made your point.

@Player-X,
Thanks player-X, I appreciate the acknowledgement.
Unfortunately it is not opinion it is fact! I can’t change the scores of the game, look them up.

Doughty won’t win because no one back east knows enough about him. They may have heard his name and maybe watched a game but they don’t watch enough to give him the trophy. East coast bias = no hardware

@Jerry Mitchell, thats true, to a point. A lot more people know about him than Kopi or JQ. I believe he will not win because of his age. But sometimes you have to be on the radar for awhile, which is ok. I just hope it is someone worthy, not like a Pronger.
