Scoring change likely

The Kings’ first goal is likely to be changed from Anze Kopitar to Brad Richardson. Richardson said he tipped the puck before it went in, and video review seems to confirm it. In that case, Kopitar would go back to being tied for his career high in goals.

    I don’t even remember Richardson being close to the puck on that play… But if he says so… *shrugs*

    In more shocking news, each of those high stick penalties were actually Kopitar, not Richardson. I know, I am surprised too.

    @jet,

    I hope Schenn makes it up next year. I loved him in preseason, especially with Clifford on his line. They are both gritty and talented.

    @jet,

    hahaha but really, kozun & jones are ACTUALLY struggling, Calgary is on the verge of being upset. If they lose, can Kozun come up to Manchester? does anyone know about that? Can Martin Jones be called up to Ontario?

    Why would Richardson even mention something like that?

    Comes off selfish.

    Doesn’t matter who got the damn goal. Sit down, shut up, and win the game. Forget your stats, this is playoff time.

    @Chris P. Bacon, I agree.

    It was Kopitar’s play. So what if Richie barely touched it while it was already going in.

    Why does he even have to mention that?

    @Chris P. Bacon,

    I’m not sure how that works, but I can’t imagine that Richie protested or something like that. He may have just mentioned it in an interview or if the refs asked him. I’m bummed that Kopi might lose the goal though…

    Rich, any clarification on how this might happen?

    @Chris P. Bacon,

    Mmm …. I kinda agree. If Richie played his @ss off he should get credit but with taking 6 minutes penalties and kinda let the team down a lil bit … I don’t know.

    Reporters tend to ask a lot of questions after games.

    Players answer the questions — you would hope truthfully.

    Reporter does his job and mentions it to scorekeeper who does his job – and reviews the tape

    Before you crucify Richardson for being a stat fiend, consider the possibility that a reporter asked him to describe the goal from his perspective on the ice. How many times have we heard this kind of interview?

    I would think (and hope) this scenario more likely than Richardson petitioning for a review.

    @threepwood, Good point. I watched the play over and over about 20 times, but I have U-verse and no slo-mo, but it is entirely possible that Richie’s stick deflected Kopi’s ice level shot up and over the pad of Anderson. Someone must have this on DVR, no?

    It’s 2:30am now and NHL.com not only lists Kopitar as the goal scorer but gives him 33 goals for the season in the league stats so I don’t think a change is forthcoming.

    @Garrett,

    yup, it’s 10 in the am here, still has Kopitar listed as the goal scorer
