    It was nervous time…that goal was huge. 3-0 would have been ugly. 2-1 feels a lot better. I’m still nervous though, but and excited nervous. Brown and JJ look great. Go USA!!! Give it everything you’ve got in the 3rd.

    It was great to see the team that didn’t “have a chance” make it all the way to overtime of the gold medal round.

    My heartbeat was double what it should of been through out O.T. What a game!!! I’m so proud of Team USA.

    My first thought was that Miller should of just gloved that last save, and forced a face off. But that’s not how it went down and I’m not crying over it. I say Congradulations to Doughty and Team Canada. Now, back to Kings hockey!

    Amazingly, Canada is only the second country (first time) to win the gold in hockey on home ice (the US won on home ice in 1960 and 1980.)

    That was the best hockey game ever…even better that Canada won but what a spectacular showcase for Doughty. He was awesome throughout the whole tournament.

  15. Man I hate being force fed humble pie.

    Still, what a frigging game. Lived up to the billing and then some. Congrats to Doughty.

    In a few weeks those silver medals will be pretty shiny.

    UGH i’m so bummed.

    Miller played awesome, but you can tell he was bummed about that last goal. Just a quick shot by Crosby and Miller had his hand high on his stick like he was gonna try to poke-check it. Smart shot by Crosby.

    Congrats to BOTH teams.

    ugh. clearly hoping for the win, but that is about all you can ask for, a close overtime game. what a great couple weeks of hockey, huh?

    the US let a tough one go, and Canada got away with one. both teams appeared to know it.

    Amazing Olympics. Hockey got a great shot in the arm. Perhaps it can finally move away from that horrible lock out idiotic greed fest and once again really become main stream again.

    There’s no eating crow by anybody. That was a great game by all involved. Congrats to Canada. One thing I will say before conceding, I don’t want to hear how the US doesn’t belong or got lucky. We deserved to be there and gave Canada all they could handle. Again, congrats to Canada.

    What I noticed about Canada, is that most of the skilled players seemed to be missing and the character guys shined. Both Ducks’ played well, along with Morrow, Stall and Nash.

    For me Kesler and Suter really surprised me in how well they played. I didn’t know those two were that good. Great job team US. You made us proud.

    Yeah, no doubt. Let there be no mistake. That USA team is a force. I was so impressed by their tenacity and stick-to-it-ivness. That comeback in the end was worth its weight in gold (so to speak) :)

    @DuckHunter & Wavesinair,

    So true! How about Suter and Weber, from Nashville? Both were great! Ryan Kesler really picked up his game in the Olympics. Erik Johnson and David Backes from the Blues were good.

    But I was really impressed by Mr. Dustin Brown, who brought his AAA game, and J I-Hate-Canada J, who was steady throughout and inspirational in spurts. Add to that D Gold-Medal Doughty, who managed to live up to all his hype, and I’m certain the Kings are going to have a great finish to this season.

    So which NHL team got the most gold medals?

  21. The Jumping Shrimp says:

    After the USA first beat Canada I simply passed it off as Brodeur giving up three soft goals and the US got badly outplayed by Canada. I took a lot of heat on here for saying so but that’s how I honestly saw the first game.

    How things have changed in a week.

    Put it this way. I’m glad we squeaked this one out and I won’t be too sad if I never have to see that particular US team again. They were great today and could have just as easily walked away with the gold.

    Kudos to you Shrimp. Great things are appreciated by all, and that was a great showing by both nations. Cheers to hockey!!

    It was a reaffirmation of North American style hockey in North America. I think a lot of Europeans saw the advantages of that style of play, and particularly, the smaller ice surface. I saw the advantage of the Olympic scoring system over what the NHL has now, and the disadvantages, for the most part, of the international gimmicks introduced to the game (I still hate no-touch icing, and certainly hate the shootout, not to mention the suicide box.)

    I think we can be pretty happy that the NHL is providing just about the best possible product, with most of their rule choices and with the talent provide. I know there’s a lot of concern about pro leagues outside North America, but I think it’s clear where the best overall product comes from and where it plays. It even seems the best European talent plays with the North American style we like to watch.

    These are great days for hockey.

    @The Jumping Shrimp,

    Scary thing is that most of that US team will only get better in 4 years. We no doubt will see an even better version if the NHL does go in 4 years…very scary indeed.
