The Kings will conduct their sixth-annual rink tour on Saturday afternoon, at six locations throughout Southern California. Groups of players, coaches and broadcasters will travel to the rinks to conduct on-ice clinics with youth hockey players and take part in autograph sessions.
The event is free and runs from 2:30-4 p.m. at each of the rinks. Here are the rinks (with addresses and phone numbers) and the tentative list of which people will be where. Note, of course, that the five Olympians playing Friday almost certainly won’t be able to participate.
Aliso Viejo Ice Palace – 9 Journey, 949-643-9648 (Davis Drewiske, Anze Kopitar, Ryan Smyth)
Iceoplex Simi Valley – 131 West Easy Street, 805-520-7465 (Erik Ersberg, Randy Jones, Mark Hardy, Bob Miller)
Ice Station Valencia – 27745 N. Smyth Drive, 661-775-8686 (Raitis Ivanans, Teddy Purcell, Brad Richardson, Jarret Stoll, Jamie Kompon, Nick Nickson)
Ice Town Riverside – 10540 Magnolia, 909-637-3070 (Rich Clune, Oscar Moller, Wayne Simmonds)
Pasadena Ice Skating Rink – 300 E. Green Street, 626-578-0801 (Alexander Frolov, Matt Greene, Peter Harrold, Terry Murray)
Ice Chalet, Palos Verdes – 550 Deep Valley Drive, Rolling Hills Estates, 310-541-6630 (Sean O’Donnell, Rob Scuderi, Justin Williams, Jim Fox, Daryl Evans)
Wayne Simmonds in my neighborhood! I think the town will explode. Can’t wait!

@macdup, Also I am almost certain the Ice Town in Riverside has a phone number of 951 not 909.

God forbid we be confused with the 909! Just Kidding.

Im guessing Riverside is gonna be packed. Simmonds, Clune & Moller should make for a fun afternoon.

I know it’s too far away, but I wish they were coming to Iceoplex Escondido!

Sweet! Aliso Viejo is 30 minutes away.

Oh Aliso Viejo, my old stomping ground. That’s where I first learned to play ice hockey (having starting in roller hockey like every other socal kid). Wish I was still there to see those guys!!

Simi got a bad draw this year.
Aliso got a good draw.
Riverside got the fun draw.
Rich — any chance Cliche will go to one of the signing?
[Reply]
Jet, how can you say that Simi got a bad draw??? They got Bob!!! Having talked with him a few times, I can tell you that he really is the world’s coolest man.

@Dominick,
Get to a game early and go to section 318. He and Jim are usually mingling with fans or you can catch him between periods. He’s always been VERY friendly and signed my book on the spot for me.

@Dan H., Thanks I’ll try that on my next game.
@historyguy, me too!!! San Marcos in the house! I see them practice once a week, they should come to our rink!!!

Curling, WTF? Why is this the highlight of the Olympics? I can’t believe how seriously the networks are taking this non-sport. Every time I turn on my TV it’s curling. Again, WTF?

@kings4queens, I think they should call “Curling” what it really is… “Ice Bocci.” Curling is something we do to hair, toes and weights. Hey, as long as MSNBC or CNBC are showing ice hockey – I’m good.

Man, Simi got hosed. Dammit.

Kinda strange to me to not see the captain be a part of this.

@Gary Livingston,
Agreed, Brown should forgo the remainder of the olympics for a rink tour.

Peter Harrold in Pasadena. I can’t wait.

Not a single rink in the 818???

@Blurker, Yeah those two (818) ice rinks are in garbage hoods with no hockey demographic. I mean, c’mon the rink in Van Nuys is crap from all the broom ball games over the years and the one in Panorama City is in a bad area.
[Reply]
Yeah, The San Fernando Valley took one for the team this year. But hey, what’s 1.6 million potential fans to the Kings?
