Here’s a recap of yesterday’s games…
USA 3, Switzerland 1: Dustin Brown played 13:27 and did not record any points or shots and had an even rating. Jack Johnson played 16:56 and was plus-1. Jonathan Quick did not play. David Backes, Ryan Malone and Bobby Ryan had goals for USA, and Ryan Miller stopped 14 shots.
Canada 8, Norway 0: Drew Doughty had one assist in 15:21 of ice time. Dany Heatley and Jarome Iginla each had two goals, Ryan Getzlaf, Rick Nash, Corey Perry and Mike Richards each had one and Roberto Luongo stopped all 15 shots he faced.
Russia 8, Latvia 2: Alexander Ovechkin and Danis Zaripov each had two goals and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 18 shots.
Today, it’s Finland vs. Belarus (noon). Sweden vs. Germany (4:30 p.m.) and the Czech Republic vs. Slovakia, with Michal Handzus (9 p.m.)
On the other ice, it was a tough day for the Americans in curling, with losses to Germany (7-5) and Norway (6-5). It’s going to be tough for USA to reach the medal round. Canada got two wins, over Norway and Germany, but Great Britain had a surprising loss to Sweden.
