Let the Games begin, and now it’s Kings vs. Kings. Three countries — the United States (Dustin Brown, Jack Johnson, Jonathan Quick), Canada (Drew Doughty) and Slovakia (Michal Handzus) — will have Kings players representing them at the Olympic hockey tournament, and while the players (at least publicly) have been saying all the right things about focusing on the NHL, now they shift focus completely to the Olympics.
Brown and Doughty have something of a big brother/little brother relationship. They’re road roommates and like to “chirp” at each other on the ice and in the locker room, so it was no surprise, after Saturday night’s game, when Doughty fired the first shot.
Doughty said he and Brown had been “chirping each other” for a while, but that no bets had been made. “I would be fine with making a bet. I think I’m more confident that my team is going to win,” Doughty said with a half-smile. More seriously, Doughty said the experience of being a Canadian Olympian was starting to set in a bit…
DOUGHTY: “A little bit. When I fly into Vancouver is when it’s really going to hit me. I’ve been looking forward to this, ever since I was named to the team, and now that it’s finally here, it has come quick. I’m really excited.”
Quick had similar emotions…
QUICK: “I think it’s still a little too early. It probably won’t really hit me until we get out there and they’re singing the national anthem before the game. It might hit you then, but I’m really looking forward to it. It’s going to be quite an experience and it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
These guys should try to have some fun with the experience. I am already missing watching them play.

Sorry Doughty and Zues but..GO TEAM U.S.A.I Hope JJ,Brown and Quick.. kick some AAAAHHHSSSSSS

So what will the bet be? Would be great if it was something better than DD having to practice in a USA jersey. I know the lower level bets get good sometimes (I know of a player who had to run naked in a hotel because he lost a bet). Whatever it is, I want to know about it and it needs to go on King Vision!

Rich, will you be posting Olympic game stuff and such? It was great having the WJC stuff. And besides, there’s no Kings games for two weeks. If you know the tv schedule (or someone does) it would be much appreciated.
Cheers. And GO USA!

I’m ready for some Olympic hockey …Russia looks scary. Canada and the U.S. need to out-muscle them to have a chance.

Best of luck to all of the Kings Olympians. I just hope they can enjoy the experience and remember all the wonderful things about it.

Cristobal, Don’t know the TV sked (could be on delay) but NHL.com has the game sked.

Speaking of Olympics, Sir Dr. Stephen T. Colbert DFA. came up with a great poster. He requests that it be put up all over Vancouver so if anyone has a chance… (lol)

That Colbert poster needs to be airbrushed on the side of a van, too.

That Colbert poster needs to be stitched onto every team USA Jacket LOL!

Kris — that is a pretty funny bet. I wonder if we could get the Knigs staff involved. Maybe we start with the Canada Slovokia game and each Kings staff gets a team for each game. Now the hard part, does Rich get Canada or does Heidi get Slovokia?
[Reply]
Rich I fully expect an interview with Michael Futa & Mark Yannetti about their thoughts of current Kings prospects, maybe something about the upcoming draft in LA and their work in the Kings org. thus far.
[Reply]
Rich — if you ask about the draft, cn you inquire about the off seas prospects. I understnad they are going to make this a super draft. Do we have a scout in Europe or Russia?

Cynic — I understand what you are saying, I just like Kris’ stakes a little better.

So proud of our Boys. Patriotism runs high
during the Olympics but it’s great for all 5 that
get to represent their country.

I saw a nice little interview on TSN with DD At the Vancouver airport and he looks like an excited kid at Xmas. He rode to the Olympic village with Mike Babcock. DD will bring the Gold metal to LA

bb7 — that is pretty damm fummy.

I can’t wait to see Brownie level Doughty. I think he’ll do it, and it will be fun to watch, as long as Dewey doesn’t get hurt.
But then again Doughty has been working the hip check so maybe it will go the other way….
Can’t wait to see the match up.
