It was suite

Thanks to everyone who joined in the festivities last night with the LAKingsInsider.com suite! It was the highlight of my season, to be able to put faces with names — screen names, that is — and spend some time with you guys and gals who have been so supportive over the years. I would have liked to have stayed for the entire game, but pesky work gets in the way. I hope everyone had a great time as well, and that everyone enjoyed the special guest. I’ll link to a couple photo albums, posted by KingsKnight and Cynic, and please feel free to share others. Hopefully we can make this an annual event. It got off to a great start thanks to the work of Frank and of Cindy. I hope everyone had a great time…

Cheechoo on waivers. I guarantee Dean makes a play at him. Probably too high in the standings, but he’d be a nice addition to a playoff 4th line

Thanks to Rich who without him none of last night would have been possible.
And thank you to everyone who attended last night. What a night, I had great time meeting all of you.
One thing that was special was talking with Craig, and we discussed how awesome it was to be able to be in the suite and know that you can just walk up to everyone there and start a conversation because we all share common ground, our love for the Kings and our Insider community. It was really a special night and of course thanks to Ms. Heidi Androl who did a spot on us and put the Insider community on TV.

Signing Cheechoo off waivers may do the trick but actually presents a problem. DL needs to move a few prospects for some draft picks for this years draft.

Since the team is ahead of schedule he needs to move a few of the older prospects because he will lose them for nothing, doesn’t have enough space to play them and can’t resign everyone.

    I don’t know why I don’t know this, but I don’t know this.

    [Reply]

  31. roadtripper says:

IMHO… Cheechoo would be interesting playing with Smyth & Kopitar (I know, I know… put a guy with only a handful of goals on the first line?…). Here’s my reasoning… He has shown an ability to put the puck in the net if he can play with someone who is attracting most of the attention (Thorton/Kopitar) and someone who is good with the puck around and behind the net (Thorton/Smyth) who can set him up off to the side of the net/slot/high-slot area… AND, if he came cheap enough, wouldn’t you rather have him than Teddy-Bear Purcell? I know I would!!!

roadtripper I agree with you. He is far from his 50 goal peak unless he has talent around him. I’d rather have him at 1 more year at 3.5 than whitney at the same value for 2 years. If he can bounce back and have a good playoff or start to next year we may get something for him in a salary dump next year.

Good meeting you man. To anser the question, you can be placed on waivers up until the deadline and can be claimed after the deadline. So for instance Cheechoo could be claimed tomorrow after the trade freeze. I believe this morning was the last time you can be placed on waivers until after the Olympic break but I will double check that.

Cheechoo isn’t exactly ours for the taking. If you hadn’t noticed, we aren’t very high on the priority list given that we aren’t a terrible/mid-range team. Being up near the top definitely keeps it from being a sure thing.

Ray Whitney extended two years might not be so bad. The asking price is more than I bargained for, though. A first rounder and a pick for him? A second, maybe, but I don’t know about a first.

  51. EASportsMgt says:

BTW, I was very disappointed by Penner’s (was it Penner?) SO goal because it nullified Simmonds’. Otherwise, Simmer’s goal would have been decisive… and we could say that we were there on that night that Wayne Simmonds scored the winning goal in the shootout… on his bobblehead night… and the Legend of the Night Train well and truly began. :-)

    Hi everyone!

It has been a slow morning for me/thankfully this was a week of vacation for me!

I met so many people last night who are part of Rich’s Kings community that I can’t even begin to name them all. It was one of the most joyful moments of my life.

As I begin to download some of the pictures from yesterday off of my camera, I’d like to thank EA for everything he was able to do for us. I truly felt like a King–from the moment we met at the statue, to the arrival at the suite, when we hit the ice and saw all those Oilers playing with a soccer ball, all the way through the game, overtime and shootout. For once, I really didn’t care so much about the outcome. Hey, the boys did get a point…

I tried to get pictures of everyone. I don’t have a complete roster of matching names, and didn’t have a flash. My photos will need some processing, because the files are so large. Some of the pics may be special for individuals; I still can’t believe we were THAT CLOSE to both Jesse Jackson and Willie O’Ree!

Hockey photos are only good with a combination of position, technic and LUCK. As it turns out, I have a picture of Wayne Simmonds scoring his shootout goal just as he clears the puck over Deslauriers’ stick. I hope someday to get the picture autographed, as a momento.

When I finish going through the pictures in the next few days (916 total taken/many are not good due to the lack of a flash) I will post them on Flickr and link them here. The delay comes from the Valentines Day weekend and my daughter’s arrival in Bakersfield, plus visits to Mom at home…

    Until later!

Here’s a screen grab of the interview. I don’t know who is on the left with his girl, but you have a bit of Matt George, Frank (easports), me behind him, the two nice ladies screaming behind me, then I think kingsKnight, Cynic, and the guy holding the bobblehead!

and here’s one of many in the group…

Did Heidi come in during the intermission? If so, than that’s why I did not see her cuz I was grabbing food and beer.

Oh well, I will catch her next LAKingsInsider Event! :)

Absolute blast hanging out with y’all last night.

I echo all of the comments above…sincere thanks to Frank for creating such an awesome opportunity to hang out, share stories and enjoy each others’ company T

he fact that it was a “sold out” arena with the Kings coming back and almost winning in the shootout made it that much sweeter to enjoy it with true fans and friends.

    Idaho-

I hear ya, but you didn’t meet Heidi. If you would have, you would understand that this is something she would totally laugh at. Like I said before, she is TOTALLY down to earth and has a refreshingly goofy side to her which makes her incredibly fun to be around. Just look that the pic with her and the Mikus jersey.

Besides, I never said where she was touching me. Could have been Mikus’s number. What did YOU assume? Is that MY Fault? ;-)

Understand as she would, totally in fun.

And Waves…she wasn’t touching my behind. I think you better try to remember who you were standing next to. They were the one’s with a big smile on their face. Could have been Variable. LOL

Thanks for uploading the Heidi interview, I saw it during the game and wanted to see it again. I’m sorry I couldn’t make it (too little notice), but I’d love to come next year. From all of the comments here and the video, looks like you all had a great time!

Man, if only Simmers shootout goal would’ve been game winner, huh!!!

Those are great pictures! More captions and IDs please! I’m extremely sad to have missed it (I don’t get home from my kid’s after-school stuff until around game-time…). The Heidi/Juraj picture is indeed a work of art. And, is it my imagination or is Jesse Jackson flipping you off in the Mikus/Jesse picture?

Naw, he’s just wondering what the hell is in that frame the Cynic is holding up while taking the picture I bet :P

Oh, as a side note Juraj’s image appeared to intimidate the Kings. We had to place him face down before we finally got on the board in the third.

Nice pics, good to see that everyone had a good time (as if that was ever in doubt)!

If I had at least been on the same continent I might have made it… ah well, maybe next year, who knows :)
