Here’s my game story from tonight, with stats and video. Thanks for reading!
Also, a reminder that there are only a handful of tickets remaining for the LAKingsInsider.com suite at Thursday’s game against Edmonton, which is also Wayne Simmonds bobblehead night. For more information, click here.

have a great night at “LAKingsInsider.com night” everyone!!!
It’d be great if you could get the place rocking like a playoff game-7… just saying…
;)
[Reply]
You know…they lost tonight…but i’m just not as emo as I was after other losses earlier in the season…eventhough it was the ducks. Maybe the previous nine games are still fresh in my mind. This should be a wake up call for the Edmonton game.
PS…Please don’t boo Sully on thursday. He didnt do anything.
[Reply]
i agree about sully…you boo players when they slap your team in the face…he said a few iffy things about the mob after games in canada versus la getting no publicity…but its true…
[Reply]
Yeah, I still think Patrick is a good guy. He did nothing worth booing. He played well for us.
If I could make it out of class to be at the game I would happily tell anyone booing him to shut their mouth and direct that energy at Edmonton’s goalie, where it deserves to be. haha.
[Reply]
“Please don’t boo Sully on thursday. He didnt do anything.” Yeah…that’s why he was traded.
[Reply]
Ya I agree we did not show up to play in the first two periods tonight and it showed, but we did have a great 3rd so hopefully that carries over into the game against Edmonton. Lets get two more wins before the Olympics start. I still think we should offer Whitney a 2 year extension and make the trade for Whitney and I say Gleason also as another big, strong skating, stay at home defenseman. I heard that the Panther’s GM has talked to every GM in the league and has somewhere around 9 trades in the works. I’m hoping the Kings can pick up one of their solid forwards and another solid D-man to help Quicker out the rest of the way and into the playoffs. Go Kings!!!
[Reply]
Losses always taste better when they are served with 9 wins. Heres to hoping our next loss comes with a win streak.
[Reply]
I don’t like the quucks, but to be honest, they really played a good game tonight. I believe we can bounce back next game!
[Reply]
I got issues with tonight’s game.
Before I dive into that, I will agree it’s been a great run and they all have to end sometime, but this game was still very winable.
That being said, what I saw was a little bit of complacency tonight. ALL teams get it and it was what I was most afraid of in this win streak. Those first 2 periods were lazy IMHO. From what this team has been bringing, they looked like they were taking the night off. Sloppy play, out of position, weak dot to board play, scrambling, less than good passing, lots of lazy play. They did pick it up in the 3rd, but you can’t keep relying on the comeback method to win games. We are a 60 minute team. When we play a full 60, we’ll win the majority of games. We didn’t even try to match Anaheim tonight. They wanted it more than us.
Now as far as Quick goes, he played an uncharacteristic game tonight. VERY scrambly. Not a lot of control. He’s so athletic that he can get away with some of it. That 5 on 3 save was UNREAL. However the Corry Perry (Duck goal #4) was not. If we go into the tunnel after 2 down 3-2 instead of 4-2, I GUARANTEE we come out with much more fire in the third to tie it up as early as possible. Instead, we’re down 2 and the goal is to short shift your way over 20 minutes to get 2 goals and at least tie it up. As many games as Quick has won for us by keeping us in them, he lost us this one tonight. I’m not gonna complain about his ratio though. Simply a mention.
Now Phoenix got lambasted 4-0 a few nights ago. They came back and worked the Oil 6-1 tonight. I’m expecting the Kings to open the same can of whoop-a$$ against the Oil for the Insider Suite night as I’ll be there.
Speaking of the Insider Suite…Who’s gonna be there? We need a roll-call thread Rich. Maybe with some info from EA on where to meet for the group picture, time, etc., just to help remind everyone. Thanks in advance and looking forward to meeting everyone at the game!
[Reply]
Cynic, I’d say Quick was scrambly because they defense was horribly inconsistent. He never knew what to expect. If there’s anything Hays knows, it’s goaltending, and he also said he thought Quick played a good game, but did look a bit surprised at times.
[Reply]
Cynic, we did look complacent for two periods. Our form on the penalty kill looked strictly average. We weren’t pressuring them like we usually do. It’s our trademark think to put full pressure on other teams, and instead the Ducks did it to us. It was frustrating to watch. The third felt more like the Kings we’ve seen for the last nine, but there was that spark of confidence missing. I hope Murray addresses this next practice, because this is something you DON’T want to turn into a habit.
[Reply]
Nah, wasn’t the defenseman, it was the vets. In fact JJ played one of the best defensive games I’ve ever seen him play.
It was scuds poor decission to suit up which put us short a defenseman. Yeah, a man short with another defenseman (with hardly any experience to begin with) ,Whisky) coming off an injury he has been out weeks with.
Real bad call there Scuds. WTF, you think you’re gonna lose your job if ya call in sick one night. Instead you leave in the middle of the game? Not smart one bit.
Zues flat out took the night off.
Smyth was only average.
Quick was only average.
O’Donnell very average.
It was a stinker.
[Reply]
It wasn’t that bad a game. I think the Kings went to bed after the first goal though. The more games I see the less I blame Quick’s play and more of the defense in front of him. A lot of scrambling was going on when the Ducks had possession, was a bit depressing to watch. Could have definitely used Scuds. My friend, a Ducks fan, was actually saying he was worried about the 3rd period, and yeah the Kings definitely were finally showing desperation.
Whatever, Oils and Avs next, and I have a feeling Kings will come out on fire both games. Would’ve been great to go into the Olympics on a 12 win streak though for sure.
[Reply]
re: booing ex-players…
As an ex-player going against his past team I never got it much, but when I did I absolutely love it. It really does kind of give you extra motivation. Plus, at that point, who f’ing cares, other than you? If a past teammate did something so wrong, then trust me, your team will take care of things… The guy could honestly give a crap about the fans who probably know nothing about the real reasons that led to his leaving…
ie: spend your energy in a positive way for your team…
peace!!!
[Reply]
i wont be able to attend the suite, but i will be there for my birthday thanks to a friend. Go kings!
[Reply]
I think the most important game before the Olympic break is against Colorado. Ending on a win is crucial to how the team performs after the break. Before the last 8 day break we lost the last one to Calgary, and we seemed to go into the 8 day break complacent, as if losing was ok. It really set the tone when we got back, and we lost 3 straight. We can’t let that happen again. Win or lose against Edmonton, but absolutely we have to win against Colorado and bring that energy with us on the break.
[Reply]
We haven’t played a full 60 minutes for a few games during the streak; it finally came back to bite us.
[Reply]
Sorry to hear that Mr. Ed threw a shoe and went down on the clubhouse turn…
[Reply]
The Ducks intimidated the Kings last night with their gritty, physical no nonsense style. They banged the Kings blue line to the point where they were started coffing up the puck. They pushed around the Kings and no one answered the bell. This was one of those games where you can see exactly what the kings are lacking to make them a quality playoff team- Size, toughness, gritt, and attitude… Why its taking DL so long to acquire a tough guy or two is beyond my comprehension…
[Reply]
Interesting day today (Tuesday) – all the teams in the West that matter who are playing are on the road. Time for a home team sweep day!
[Reply]
unfortunetly, i could see this coming yesterday.
we haven’t played a full 60 minutes since Toronto, and escaped a few games we could have lost.
we fed their offense by taking dumb penalties. 2 by captains, and it gave them alot to feed on. i doubt they could beat us 5 on 5, if we played with emotion. the brain frat that caused the 5 on 3 in the 1st period of a game that Anaheim felt they had to win, just keep their emothions at a high level. great to have the record, but where is the 60 minute effort. we saw it only in the 3rd period. a bad and scary habit.
alot of poor decisions in the 1st and 2nd periods. doughty says as much.
i hope they learn something and win these next 2 with better, and 60 minutes, of thoughtful execution.
[Reply]
by the way, our team defense is getting leaky. alot of 3 and 4 goal games in the last 10. it was our offense in december, now our D is not sharp as it was.
[Reply]
You know some of you people amaze me. I don’t write too many posts here like some people, but I just can’t take it anymore. I know some of you are going to like what I’m going to say, but “OH WELL”. The Kings lost last night get over it, it happens, move on. Yeah I know it was to the Ducks, I hate it as much as anyone. That doesn’t mean you all the sudden go out fire everyone and trade evryone. I’m glad the majority of you aren’t our GM or coach with some idiotic things you come up with. I’ve said it before and I’m going to keep saying it, This team is fine, they’re going to win some, lose some, make the playoffs, win a Stnley cup or two, and be a very good team for a long time. So enjoy the ride, don,t over analize every win or loss, and be a proud Kings fan no matter what!!!!!
[Reply]
@ Khanon – Nonsense! The Kings haven’t been “intimidated” all year, and the last team that’s going to “intimidate” them is the quacks. They got sloppy and they paid for it. For the record, the quacks played a good game.
[Reply]
This was the first game in a while that I saw a difference in the attitude of the team. When we were down 3 goals to Detroit, I wasn’t even worried because there was something about the team that I knew they would come back and that was the attitude they had for a long time. Last night, they looked like they were expecting the streak to come to an end at any time and once they got down, I could almost sense the deflation in their confidence. Almost like, “Well, here it finally comes to an end…”
With a few exceptions, the whole team looked a little lethargic. Granted, the have been playing every other night for two weeks, but that shouldn’t be an excuse. This game was very important for many reasons, but most of all, the two points are always crucial. Hopefully we will see them bounce back against the Oilers.
I hope TM puts Ersberg in these next two games and gives Quick a break because I think we might see him get some PT up in Vancouver. Despite this last game, I think he is playing better than both Thomas and Miller right now. I could be wrong, but I think he will see some action.
[Reply]
I was at the game last night, and it was very difficult to watch Ivanas on the ice.He skates around like a lost child.I feel bad for Harold who has to watch the same thing.Harold is underated, and should be playing more.Thats just MO.See you all Thurs.
[Reply]
Anyone else want to see the Iceberg in net against the Oil??
[Reply]
I’d like to see Quick i net again before the break, because he’s probably going to sit the whole break, and I don’t want him sitting after this downer. I don’t mind seeing Ersberg play either one of the games, but really, I don’t see any point in it. Ersberg will need to get into the show after the break anyway, and Quick’s got a couple games rest before the next couple games anyway. The time to give Quick the break was that back-to-back on the roadie.
[Reply]
This team consistently tries to find a way to win, even when they’re behind. It didn’t work out last night, but it’s still something to admire and appreciate for the effort. I have absolute confidence that the team and the coaches will keep up the effort and spirit to take us as far as we can go. The Monday morning quarterback reviews aren’t helpful for people who want to keep looking and moving forward.
[Reply]
VanKingsFan, I want to see solid defense against the Oilers–a 60 minute tight-checking effort. I want to see Quick stand tall in net before the break, not having to look back on the crappy game everyone played against the quacks.
[Reply]
Kenneth,
Agreed. I would be worried that we might be overconfident after winning all those in a row. We might be looking past Eddy to our first matchup of the year with the hated Avalanche!
How great would another Kings vs Avs series be!!! They have beaten us out in the 7th game the last two times we were in the playoffs… REVENGE
[Reply]
Lethargy and complacency = loss The game is 60 minutes, not the last 20. Here’s hoping in the next two the team shows more enthusiasm. Go Kings!
[Reply]
Long time reader first time poster.
This was my first Kings at the pond game, and before it even started, this is the opinion of the Ducks fans I will always have.
While sitting at the brewery accross the street from the pond, one of the gentlman next to me says…
“There sure is a lot of %&*hole Kings fans here”
I gave it a moment to settle in, I replied, but thats not necassary for the point I want to make.
I just had to go to the game because there was no way I was going to watch that game on Prime.

[Reply]
on a related note… WHY! OH WHY! Did we have to hurt Getz right before Canada needed him!!!
[Reply]
Those two clowns that called the game on tv need to be fired. Or go back to hockey 101.. To me it was a one sided game last night. Making the Ducks better than they really are. It is hard for to take in the fact the that there where two teams on the ice last night.
Great example i think in the 2nd per Greene takes a penalty for standing around. but it was called slashing. It would be kind of hard for him to slash someone, when he was not even moving.
For the person in the last post. Should have taken the newspaper and pointed out the standings..
#rd period was even worse, took 18 mins to finally have some offensive puck procession. Don’t get me wrong, 5 secs and shoot is not how the kings have played all year. Why change something that isn’t broken..
[Reply]
By the way, that -hole at TSN, Scott Cullen (Scott.Cullen@ctv.ca), waited for last night’s game, hoping the Kings would lose, so he could rub it in their face, instead of publishing his “methodology” Monday, as he normally does. He’s got the Kings at 7th, behind the Canucks, Avs and Devils.
[Reply]
I agree with P90x, it’s only a single loss after a 9 game win streak.
Khanon (sp?) grit, toughness, size? those are the attributes that everyone has been talking about on this team all year, the Kings already have it. What team have you been watching for the past 4 months?
The ducks played better, more desparate hockey than the kings and they won. Get over it, call it a character building / learning opportunity and do better against the oilers and the ex-nordiques before shutting it down for 3 weeks.
[Reply]
Have i said how much i hate the Avs? And how it sucks living in Albuquerque with Av’s and Dog fans… Im here keeping the the faith every day!!
[Reply]
Am I the only person who thinks the Kings lack size, grit, and toughness? The way the ducks played last night is how teams play in the playoffs. Frankly, I don’t think the Kings have enough of the aforementioned attributes.
Simmonds was the only player willing to play physical and tough. Nobody else was or is willing to do what it takes and stand up for themselves or play physical. I was getting really frustrated watfching the damn game last night
[Reply]
One more point. It wasn’t just last night’s game. The previous game against the ducks, it was the same story except the kings scored more goals. they were getting bullied in that game also….

Khanon:
i think you are one of the only ones yes.
I think we have the size with Kopi, Fro, Zeus, Segal, Ivanans, Greene, OD, WHiskey and Jack. And we have the toughness with Brown, Simmonds, Greene, OD, Jack, Zeus, Smyth.
And we have the grit with Simmonds, Richie, Parse, Zeus, Smyth, Brown.
The fact that we are 3-1 vs the Ducks this season makes me pretty confident that we can handle their rough style of play. Is your only proof last nights game and your own opinions?
You havent presented a solution to your own problem either. It is fairly useless to ask poignant questions without offering any kind of answer or solution.
[Reply]
Last night’s loss was because the Ducks outplayed us for most of the game. Instead of random complaints and aimless complaining, here is what I saw, specifically, that hurt us.
(1) We never got a good cycle going with any regularity; Steve Eminger (ducks #7) had a monster game in his own zone, he totally shut down Zus and Fro. Neidermeyer was super tough, really controlled his half of the ice.
(2) Missed shots on the first power play, and general ineffectiveness on the others. We missed 3 shots on the first PP, and two of those resulted in clears for the Ducks. Sure, we got a “PP” goal 1 sec after the man got out of the box from Kopi, but the PP did not establish momentum and we got killed in the first shifts after our PPs, especially the one we scored on when Perry scored 20 seconds later.
(3) Penalty Kill-giving up the 5-on-3 for an extra man penalty was not smart hockey. The clear over the glass by Greene was not smart hockey. It happens, we are ususally better, we must be better form now on or else…
(4) Line mixing seemd to be a detriment-Brown looked awkward, Simmer had a bad game offensively, lines looked out of sync to me.
(5) Defensive corps struggled, Scuderi out early and Drewiske needing a game to get up to speed.
Put them all together and it only increase our vulnerability. The single greatest reason for the loss, for me, was the disruption the Ducks were able to achieve on our breakout. Their forecheck was the difference, exposing the above-mentioned vulnerabilities.
We looked tired, probably because we were. Also, the Ducks were the better team, hungrier and faster and much better execution.
Fine, we lose 1 in 4 to them…
Now, it is just a great thing to have the extra day off, the Kings need it. Edmo will be a good game, and Colorado should be very, very interesting.
As far as last night, look at it, integrate it, then shake it off. We are better than the Ducks and we are almost always better than last night. Job 1? Beat Edmonton on Thursday. Job 2? Beat Edmonton on Thursday.
[Reply]
I was not impressed with Whiskey last night … first game back from injury really showed on him last night. Poor Jack keeps getting stuck with our 6th and 7th best defensemen. He needs a Bryan Allen from Florida, or Dan hamhuis from Nash.
Any interest from A Carolina D man? D. Seidenberg. (I am not sure if that is a step up at all?)
[Reply]
the officiating was pathetic. we had the same dude we were stuck with on saturday. hope he went somewhere else for thursday’s game.
[Reply]
I saw the Oilers play Phoenix here last night and they looked awful. We should not have a problem with getting a W on Thursday. But, there is a reason why we play the games! Kings do not take the Oilers softly. See u guys in the Suite on Thurs. :)
[Reply]
DB Coop:
You sound like a Leafs fan
[Reply]
Also, with regard to the standings, and more specifically Phoenix, right now we have one game in hand, and a win in that game would give us 4th because we win the tiebreaker. Sadly, we won’t get to use that game in hand soon: in fact, at the Olympic break we will have two games in hand over Phoenix, they play 3 more before the break and we play 2.
[Reply]
Scott Cullen is worthless…..He’ll always have the Kings behind the teams we beat…
[Reply]
P.S., wouldn’t it be Great to have Adam Deadmarsh on this team, or Dave Taylor?
[Reply]
This is the second thread he’s tried to sell that opinion on–that the officiating screwed up the game. It’s not like that hasn’t happened before, but it’s not what sunk the Kings last night. The Kings sunk the Kings last night.
[Reply]
Khanon,
I do think the Kings could use some toughness. We don’t play as well when other teams take it to us – Calgary and Vancouver are the best examples.
I think that’s why a Raffi Torres or Steve Ott would be great pickups.
[Reply]
Van King fan: i probably sound like all NHL fans.
i did like Davy Keon, alot. my kind of player. not many, since Mario and Gilbert Perrault, could stickhandle, like dave keon. maybe, butch goring, too, my favorite King of all time.
[Reply]
Khanon admires anything Ducks. I think he defended Hayward in a previous column.
The Kings have plenty of net presence, size, and pysicality. Just sometimes they forget to use it for periods at a time.
[Reply]
Dan H,
Yes, I did defend Hayward in a previous column. What can I say, I admire teams that play the North American style of hockey. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge King fan, and if you were watching a game with me, you would definitely see the King fan in me. I will do you guys a favor though, by not continously stating the same point…

54 fighting-
Glad someone is sort of on the same page as me. Can we somehow get in touch with Dean Lombardi and tell him how we feel?
[Reply]
Good time for a two week break.
The Kings put together a fantastic run but what I think is getting overlooked is we have gotten a little sloppy in our own end. Too many tap in goals with player standing right in the crease. Even when we were losing earlier this year, you would hardly see that happen.
Hopefully everyone comes back from the Olympics invigorated and ready to close out the season with another big winning streak and into the playoffs. The team just needs to concentrate more on defense because that’s going to win you games in the post season along with good goaltending.
Lets close out these two remaining games and go into the break with 79 points.
[Reply]
Last night Hayward was almost comlpetely even in his analysis. For the many of you who will struggle for the correct insult of me for saying that, the word is “heresy”. Yeah, I have heard them before, and Ahlers and Hayward are sometimes homers, but last night wasn’t all that bad. Would they really be reasonably expected not to play to their fan base? Still, they were good to the Kings, very complimentary, and mostly correct discussing referee decisions.
[Reply]
Many Kings fans have no idea how good of a defensemen Peter Harrold really is!
[Reply]
Last night’s game was HORRIBLE.
Yes, the Kings were due for a stinker.
Yes, the Ducks were desperate.
Yes, the Ducks won the game because they scored on their scrums around the net and the Kings didn’t.
Yes, the Kings were better in the third but didn’t score.
Don’t care. Division game, cross-town rival…
AHHHHHHHHHHH!
There was no push-back from the Kings.
The Kings’ great players were average or worse, and lost their matchups to the Ducks, head-to-head, star to star.
As a worrier, I worry about the Suite Game of Rich and Friends.
Yes, the Oilers are terrible.
But IF THERE IS NO PUSH-BACK ON THURSDAY NIGHT THE KINGS WILL LOSE!
C’mon, Boys! Slump time is OVER.
Two more games…
[Reply]
I had no problem with the Ducks broadcasters being “homers” they seemed to talk more highly of the Kings at times than the Ducks.
BUT I will blame them for their hockey knowledge and their attention to the game. Just hearing them describe certain replays and plays, they call it totally wrong.
Example:
After Getzlaf scored he talked about how he got it up and over the glove hand of Quick when it clearly went Under his glove and in the crook between his arm and body.
Small thing I know, but there were many moments like that
[Reply]
Bako:
Slump time?? when was this? between 10pm Pacific time and right now? lol
[Reply]
DB Cooper:
Probably your right. I just called out the Leafs because I used to live there and it was very comical at how many referees in the entire association hated the Leafs allegedly.
IMO they still hold a grudge from the LA series lol
[Reply]
I was at the game last night, and there were quite a few times where our guys acted like they had less time than they actually did, especially in the second period. Lots of blind passes in our own zone that contributed to a more consistent Ducks attack.
I am not taking away from the Ducks overall game though. As I commented to my dad as we walked out, Hiller played a pretty decent game coming up pretty big in the third and the Ducks team game was pretty solid throughout the whole game.
[Reply]
“I will do you guys a favor though, by not continously stating the same point…”
That would be…following the rules of the blog.
[Reply]
@ Player-X – Honestly, I noticed that too. I wouldn’t be surprised if Fox told him to stop being such a homer for the Kings games and to give them some props. Bob and Jim always give the quacks their props. It’s only right to do that, because Fox is too cheap to have both broadcast teams cover the game, and nobody wants to sit through that crap.
[Reply]
Vanthekings fan, would you rather have the “homers” or tinker bell calling the game…?
One loss, we got complacent end of story. The 9 game run pretty much secured us a playoff spot if we play 0.500 hockey from here on out. I’m confident that DL will bring in Torres or some playoff bruiser, but I think there are better options for a playoff run. Big forwards generally are slow and a defensive liability.
In my opinion the best playoff performers are the superpests like Claude Lemiuex or Theoren Flurry that have no problem doing the dirty work, getting rough goals getting under the skin of the opposing team. They may disrupt team chemistry, and be unscrupulous but a good pest is always needed for playoff hockey.
[Reply]
Theo Fleury was always one of my favorites on someone else’s team.

Side bar:
Helene Elliot has the Kings ranked #2 behind Washington ahead of the Sharks and Blackhawks even after the loss last night. Whaaaa???
Who are you and what have you done to Helene??
[Reply]
Perhaps she’s concerned that all her clickbait articles of the past have caught up to her and she’s fellating Kings fans to try to get them back.
[Reply]
Brian Hayward and that other clown should be tar & duck feathered. Those 2 announcers are hands down the worst i have ever had to listen to. They make me cringe. Their terminology and analogies are pitiful. They mess up names all day, and are way Duck happy. Bob and Jim spend a great portion of time giving props to the other team. Its never Kings this, Kings that, Kings Kings Kings. When Kopitar got checked hard, the other clown giggled like a player getting hurt is funny. Bob wouldn’t do that. I hate those 2, had to turn the sound off for the 3rd. Sorry to rant.
Now-
Since we lost a game, and the mojo got broken for a minute, can DL please go upgrade the team somehow?
I have been waiting rather patiently, now impatiently for the big 3rd/4th line aquisition. Ivanans and a few others are not playoff players, and we have holes to upgrade.
Now someone kill Hayward.

I guess I have to disagree with most of you regarding the announcers last night. I didn’t find them that bad at all. Maybe it’s because I have to watch a lot of Canuck games up here and listen to Mr. Homer himself, John Garrett. He is THE WORST in all of sports….Hayward seems to have changed his game a bit this year. I remember last year all all years’ prior to this him being very pro-Duck all the time and being really annoying, but I haven’t noticed it this year at all. No more than any other home announcer that is out there….

As much as I’d like to throw my name in that hat, I can’t and won’t out of compassion for my fellow bloggers. The reason I can’t attend the suite meet, is because I’m already a season ticket holder and have to arm-wrestle my wife every year for my seat. For me to spend the additional $$ to go to an event that I already have a ticket to…… well, I think any happily married man who want’s to stay that way will understand. For the same reason, I wouldn’t want to take the place of someone who otherwise wouldn’t be able to go.
Huge kudos for whoever donated the spot!!

A dose of reality:
Kings are second youngest team in NHL!
They have been playing great, but they’re still learning. They were complacent last night because they went on a 9 game tear and began to think it was easier than it really is. That all they needed to do was show up. Hopefully, a wake up call to the team that reminds them that they have to work hard every single game.
First and second periods, the Ducks were several steps ahead of the Kings beating them to pucks, playing a physical, dynamic game; continuously cycling forcing the ings to chase them and take penalties. Give the Ducks credit for coming in fighting. Kings took too long to bring their game and by then it was too late. Hiller and his defense played a good solid game too; cleared out the net, pushed the KIngs players out of the way, blocked shots, kept them on the perimeter.
Can’t really complain though. If anything this team learns and adapts pretty quickly. I suspect they will bring their a-game to close out the week.

Thank you, to who donated the ticket. Now all I have to do is be a lucky winner. Good luck to everyone, including me…hint, hint.

I agree Pakifro.
Don’t boo Sully.
Boo guys like Rob Blake; guys who jump ship to go to a “better” team.

Thought they played pretty well, especially the third period. Just came up against a team that really wanted it more and NEEDED it more.
Thursday is the kind of game they would have lost last year but I’m confident of a victory.

I asked this before but I think it got passed over.
Is there a way that ALL Insider posters could get in the group pic before the game and not just the ones who bought suite tickets? Maybe they could pay for their pictures?

How about out of towners take our own pictures and send them in. Could make a collage of Kings fans around the world!
Mine will be the one in front of Hockey Canada PLace!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, but in a few days i have 17 day vacation from work and some international gathering is going on outside my front door.

Thanks for the suggestion Cynic!
I’d love to have the opportunity to meet everyone AND get in the picture. That would be awesome.

Even with our poor play, we might’ve still come back and won if Quick stopped the Quacks 4th goal.
Oh well, Quick stopped everything in the 3rd period, when we finally woke up a bit. We have to look at the overall Kings’ play, and most of the time it lacked the intensity that we had other games.

I agree that the effort wasn’t there, for the most part anyway, last night. One thing that really stood out to me was the atrocious passing – especially on the Power Play. The guys weren’t giving each other much of a chance to receive, much less control, the puck.
Granted, the two goals were the exceptions – both were really spectacular.

I’m not too concerned that they lost. A lot of this momentum goes in cycles. Peaks and valleys and the timing of them. As long as they make the playoffs, hopefully all the stars will align and they will peak during that time. It doesn’t matter if they finish first in the conference and lose in the playoffs (SJ). That’s gotta be frustrating. It’s like a horse race, that 3rd or 4th place horse just sits in the pocket and then turns on the jets on the home stretch. The team can’t burn itself out and kill themselves just for a higher placement in the standings. Play steady, get in the playoffs and then go nuts. The cup to LA sure would be nice!!!!

I just checked out the OC Register’s blog. The Ducks fans over there are brutal.
The common theme with the Ducks fans is that they only lost the previous games vs the Kings because they played our boys on the second of a back-to-back night and weren’t as rested as the Kings.
Carlyle is pushing that theme pretty hard as well.
Makes the loss even more tough to swallow.

A number of the teams that lost to the Kings on the recent streak were planing on back to back or 3rd in 4 nights
