Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…
MURRAY: “It was a nice run, a very nice run. Guys really dug in, through some very hard games, a long road trip, come from behind, a lot of playing hard for each other, a lot of perseverance through some difficult games there. To find a way to stretch the streak to nine was tremendous. Tonight, we rallied in the third period, but Anaheim brought their `A’ game here today and we didn’t match it. They were carrying the game to us. We were chasing it, in the first and second period in particular, and we didn’t manage the puck through the middle of the ice. Just too many times, we let them come back at us with a lot of speed of the transition.”
(on the status of Smyth and Scuderi…)
MURRAY: “Smyth is OK. He came back. That’s just a shot that you take playing in front of the net. Scuderi, he got hit by the flu. We’ll have a couple of days now before we play again, so that’s a good thing. He can hopefully regroup real fast.”
(on Drewiske’s game…)
MURRAY: “It’s been a long time since he’s played. When Scuderi goes out, he has to play and play quite a bit. So I think he started to feel better as the game went along. The pace of the game was pretty intense. They brought the best that they can bring and took it to us, so we spent a lot of time in our D-zone as a result of that. Again, he got better as the game went along.”
(on whether these games have a playoff feel…)
MURRAY: “Well, I thought (the Ducks) brought it, a playoff game. We looked like we made some mistakes, poor decisions, fatigue, emotional and mental. We just made some wrong decisions on some critical plays that they capitalized on. Hopefully the next time, we can match that.”
It’s occurred to me that the Kings haven’t lost too many games by two or three goals this season…I figured it out…that’s why I’m so bummed. It wasn’t that close. Then…that’s actually good, because the Kings have kept them close this year, and they’ve won most of the ones they’ve kept close. They’ll shore it up over the next couple days and be able to sit through the Olympics without too much angst.

I love Terry Murray. Fatigue, emotional and mental probably does have a lot to do with it. Great run boys!

get Duster as far away from Kopitar as possible… it doesn’t work… it never has… it never will…

It happens boys. Shake it off. They are not good enough to sniff our ass and they’ll be looking up at us for the next decade.
here is a short and sweet post game article on http://www.lakingsnews.com

I’m just amazed they played so well for the 9 games. They’ve been way way overdue for a tuff game.
Good run though.

Darn water fowls…..Our KINGS still ROCK!!!!

I agree. When Dusty plays on the top line with Kopitar he suffers from failure to thrive. Davis D. had a couple of tough stretches, but it would have been so much worse had Jones been in there. The streak had to end at some point but I wish it wasn’t the Yucks who ended it. Meanwhile we’ll just have to start a new winning streak on Thursday.

Hint for TM: Try line Smyth-Kopitar-Simmonds, it should work

I really wish Surly Jacob wouldn’t encourage people to fight.
It’s not “cool”. The fan didn’t go out “in style”. He went out like a classless crybaby loser unfit to bear the nobility of the Kings.

Thanks, PRMan, for saying that. Hockey is already perceived to be too violent without violence in the stands.

I’d think the winning streak must have put extra pressure on the team, it was great while it lasted. Now the Kings can start another great run.

What happened?

@ mrbrett7: Re violence? Someone posted earlier that he watched a Kings fan get into a fight in the stands, and he seemed to think it was a good thing.

Phx keeps winning! The Kings need to get and hold the 4 spot!

One streak ends, time to start another one. Go Kings!!!

Tough game. No worries, the Kings usually have a great response after losing a tough one.
