MURRAY: “We skated this morning, and he was able to go out and shoot and pass and get a feel for it. He’s in.”
(on using Harrold as a forward and an emergency defenseman…)
MURRAY: “I feel comfortable that he can step up on the right side and do a good job for us.”
(on using Purcell instead of Ivanans/Segal…)
MURRAY: “I need four lines playing today, with these back-to-backs. I really called on three lines, and those guys played their butts off last night. I need some depth tonight.”
(on using Moller on the third line last night, and dropping Parse…)
MURRAY: “I thought he did a pretty good job there last night. I just needed Parse to take it to a little higher level than what he did, so the change was made for that reason. I thought Oscar showed a lot of confidence, handled the puck and tried to do the right things playing on that line.”
just looked at the flames roster…every D-man is canadian except for reghyr (spelling?) who is brazilian …random

Regarding the Flames/Leafs/Quacks trade, here’s how I see it:
Leafs: Great pickup in Phaneuf. They basically gave up a bag of pucks to get him. But I don’t get the Guiguerre trade. He’s the same as Toskla – overpriced and over the hill.
Flames: You got what in return for one of the 5 best defenseman in the NHL? I’d be FURIOUS if I were a Flames fan.
Quacks: I’d have to say it’s a win. You basically swap 2 identical goalies and get a gritty goal scorer to sweeten the deal. More importantly it should be a wakeup call for all the other overpriced over the hill talent on the Quacks that their days are numbered. Neidermeyer & Selane better be preparing their “teams I’d accept a trade to” lists. The rebuild is on in Quackland.
Bottom line: Leafs are still a last place team. Quacks aren’t much better. Flames will now fight to make 8th in the West.

Giguere goes to play with his former goalie coach francois allaire. Toskala is a UFA while giguere has a year left after this. Given jonas hiller’s extension, this a great move for anaheim.

Hey Paul….I like your breakdown but I think the Flames come out on this one, picking up Stajan and Hagman. Mayers is a throw-in but I agree, Hagman is an LW with a nice shot. The Kings could have used him……too bad.

my thoughts on purcell in the line up today–
i dont like it.
Stick with who we played with last game.
i know its nice to have 4 mobile lines and skating against the devils… but PURCELL Is not a game changer.
i like ivanans hustle and the intangibil’s he brings.

Mark 1…Kinda what I thought…..The Flames get two top end players for the price of one…..I’d like to have seen Hagman in a Kings sweater….He was the only bright spot for the Leafs in that game……
