Is there any concern over a possible instigator suspension for Simmonds? I’m not sure about the rule, but I would think the NHL would have to look at the tape to understand that there was nothing worthy of an instigator in the first place. I thought the refs were way too harsh.

Rich . Is the Situation in goal tonight? If he is we have no chance of our slapshots against his six pack washboard abs!!!!!!!!!

WRT instigating, it’s an automatic 10-minute misconduct. You have to get three 10-minute misconducts, or something like that, then you get an automatic hearing, I think, after which action may or may not be taken. I don’t think Simmonds has had any misconducts.

SWEET!!! Had to work, but just watched some highlights…

The second Bruin’s goal I would put the question on Zeus as to why didn’t he hit/pin the guy along the boards just inside the point? Instead he tries to play the puck and misses and goal…

    Don’t look now, Kopi’s rolling again………
He should just forget about the slap-shot (which he misses the net with anyway) – like Alex O. he’s got such a wicked wrister who needs a slapper…

Good for Simmonds getting in there after the hit on Kopitar!!!

Good for Stoll on the shootout!

    THANK YOU JQ!!!

It’s really hard not to love this team. They really are a tight-knit group, or so it seems from the outside…

Two more points tomorrow please & THANK YOU!!!

ps – It’s gotta be REALLY hard on Lombardi these days trying to figure out what to do, if anything. This is why I have faith in him and the fact that most likely he won’t do anything dumb and certainly not anything that isn’t really going to significantly help us…

    In Dean I trust!!!

    GO KINGS GO!!!

Keeping Moller on the 3rd is a problem with regards to fielding a 4th line. Who will center it? That means Richie moves down, not sure that is the right choice.

In principal I agree, he is playing well well and always getting to the slot………..Luv it!

@ roadtripper — It’s got to be easier now for DL to stand pat than it was a couple weeks ago. I have no illusion that they’re going to win the Stanley Cup this year, but 4th or 5th seed wouldn’t be bad. They’d have a decent shot of a second round without any additions, I think.

  14. DougS says:

roadtripper, WTFK, Lombardi was quoted recently as saying that the last Detroit game changed his attitude, and he thinks the Kings are now in a position where it’s worth making a trade with short-term gain in mind. In other words, a rental is possible if the price is right and the player is right.

What hasn’t changed — and I think this is where roadtripper guesses right — is that he’ll be picky. He won’t do a deal unless the fit is good and the price is right.

And I agree with WTFK that the Kings are still kind of a long-shot for the Cup (though anything can happen in the playoffs). And that’s the thing about the possibility of trading for Kovalchuk this year: It sounds like Atlanta wants ‘roster players,’ whose loss would hurt the Kings immediately. So, is the difference between what they gain in Kovi and what they lose in whomever they give up from the current roster enough to put them over the top this year? My guess is, probably not. Next year or two years from now, maybe it is. But probably not now.

I didn’t really take it that way. Lombardi actually used the term “reward,” I think meaning he’d be willing to invest more earlier, but I didn’t take it to mean temporary. I think temporary fixes (rentals) are still out of the question. I also agree that he’ll be more picky, which is what I was trying to say, making it less likely that a trade will get done than it appeared two or three games back.

My feeling on the cup is that cinderella teams are quite rare, and a team that hasn’t been to the playoffs for several years is going to need a trip to the playoffs just to get the feel. Then maybe next time they can go deep. Maybe I’m wrong.

Kopitar got hit???? I could have sworn I saw Ivanans on the bench for the whole game… I don’t believe it….

I think Harry needed to apologize for the pass that set Kopitar up for lights out. He put Kopi in a position where he had to look back for it in the open ice.

28 games left…14 points left for a playoff spot. We just need to be .500 hundreds the rest f the way and we are IN!! Semms pretty possible seeing how we are about 13 games OVER .500 up until now!! YA KINGS!!!!

    Hey all you Kovi lovers!

Watched the 3rd period of the NAS/ATL game last night. ATL down by 1 with 15 min left in the 3rd. NOT once did Kovi make a defensive back checking effortl. He hung around the blue line looking for the outlet pass.

I dont know about this one. We have a tight team that sticks up for one another and plays hard night in and night out.

Even I have been a little down on Kopitar earlier, but at least he works his butt off on both ends, and has become a damn good 2 way player.

On another note………Thomas is having nightmares for weeks to come. Kopi left him face down and out for the count. Sick f..ing move!

Speaking of rentals, I’d love to have Steve Ott. Would fit in nicely on a 3rd/4th line.

Lombardi needs to tell the ATL that they can shove off.
This team has character (i.e. Simmonds), I think we keep this core together add a piece like Whitney, and keep the pipeline loaded like it is now.
The future is bright, and it is a team with integrity.
Very proud to be a Kings fan…

  25. USHA#17 says:

If I was listening to the game on the radio I would have figured the Kings shortened to two lines. There were a lot of players who failed to show for the game.

    Sick (seriously-flu?)?

Most amazing was the passing. Were there even a dozen stick to stick in the neutral zone last night?

But, a good team finds ways to win even when every bounce seems to put the puck on opposing sticks.

    Good luck tonight

Ivanans was essentially on the bench the whole game. My stepfather and I brought my uncle and little cousin to the game, neither of them know much about hockey (or at least, my uncle knows nothing about hockey post… like, 85). We sat right next to the bench and every time Ivanans would step onto the ice during time outs, they were like “Ooh, 41 is out, they’re getting the goons out!”. My stepfather eventually turned to me and said “Could they stop calling him a goon? It gives a bad name to goons everywhere.”

Also in side incidents of amusement from our seats: Matt Greene makes a better door than a window. We completely missed all of the play leading up to and including Kopi’s goal because he was standing. During the shoot out Suderi sat down on Ersberg’s stool and moved it back a little to take the tape off of his stick. Ersberg went to sit back down a few seconds later and almost fell over when his stool was gone. He ended up half standing, half sitting on Scuderi’s lap for a few seconds.

Oh, and something needs to be done about Moller’s flesh colored beard. It’s fairly frightening and he’s beginning to resemble Spencer Pratt.
