It’s been a good road trip for Peter Harrold, whose parents were able to make a 2 1/2-hour drive to watch him play in Detroit and, tonight, will drive two hours to see him play in Columbus. Harrold is from Kirtland Hills, Ohio, which is in the northeast part of the state. Kirtland Hills is, essentially, across the lake from Detroit and Toronto, and also not too far from Buffalo. So which team did Harrold cheer for, growing up?
Chicago. Chicago?
“I think, when I was younger, I just liked the way their uniforms looked,” Harrold said.
I think we all had that moment at some time in childhood, right?
Also, tomorrow Harrold will go to Boston, where he spent four years at Boston College.
No wonder he’s so versatile!

I’m happy that Harrold is getting a chance to play in front of family and friends. Harrold has been playing well is deserving of the ice time he is getting.

He re-learned his position prety good after not playing it for awhile

Harry has stepped up his game. I like what he has done in replace of Randy.

Harry has changed my opinion of him this year.

When it comes to jerseys/uniforms, there is no Childhood’s End, for me…

I still like Boston purely because of their uniforms.

ew!

Good for him. The guy has hung in there, and deserves the opportunity he is getting. Speaking of uniforms, does anybody besides me think that the best ones in the league are the teams of “The Original 6″? It’s probably just a childhood thing, but those still get a reaction from me that no other uniform in the league (except, of course, my beloved Kings) can duplicate.

Since I went to BU the same years Harrold was at BC I wasn’t too much of a fan of him back then. But glad he’s on our team now and has picked up his game as of late. Will be at the FleetCenter (aka the arena that seems to have a new name every year) on Saturday catching another Kings victory!

I have to agree on the Hawks logo. It’s very cool. I can’t agree, in general, that the original six logos are cool. In fact, I’d say some of the better logos, and definitely uniforms, have come with improved technology. The current Kings uniforms suck a lot less than ever. The Panthers logo isn’t bad.
A lot of logos and uniforms could be better or worse than they are. In my mind the worst logos are the stylized letters or an animal using a hockey stick. In the other direction, the Kings previous logo (now on the shoulders) shows a lot of creativity but too much detail, and it looks kinda like it belongs on the flag of some third-world country.
Meh! It’s a logo. Not sucking is half the battle. I mean…look at the NHL logo!

The Chicago road uniform is awesome.

WTFK – I hear you on the uniforms themselves, the styling is certainly much better than it used to be. I grew up in Detroit at a time when the “original 6″ was the entire NHL, so I have a reaction to the logos, colors, etc. that none of the others give me. Plus, the players on the hand held hockey game which dominated my youth always were in Ranger/Canadien/Bruin etc. uniforms, so I am sure that has something to do with it as well.

Bostons throwback is nice and Detroits I think 3rd jersey with the old English D is cool.

That’s great that his parents will be there. Love the info!

WTFK:
How could you not Love the Penguin with the hockey stick!
I liked the Buffalo blue and yellow kit with the two sabres crossed above the leaping buffalo

Oh…and no discussion of jerseys can pass without some crack about the Burger King Jersey. Holy jersey wars, Batman!

(I meant CANNOT pass!)
VKF, any animal with a hockey stick must be breaking it, cross-checking you, or something. The worst is probably a letter or letters, with a hockey stick. I mean…please…if you thought of it in two seconds, it’s probably a crappy logo (I’m not referring to the Pens logo here.)

Horror of horrors…here I complimented the Panthers on their logo, and they changed it!
A massive WTF to the Panthers!

there was a what’s happening!!! where dwayne was winning bets on football by deciding which helmet he liked the best…
i thought the supersonics logo was really cool when i was a kid and was the reason i cheered for them from 77-79…then earvin arrived…and, well…so much for graphic design…(!)

WTF,K:
Thanks for the link to the Prison Jersey game between the Las Vegas Wranglers and my Bakersfield Condors!
One should remember that some Condors fans still wear replicas of the orange prison jump-suit jersey.
Simplicity? Yes. Style? Not so much…

Harold’s play of late has shocked me. He’s dam good and playing consistantly well along side JJ which is no small accomplishment (JJ leads the team in being out of position and leaving his linemates outnumbered IMHO). Since Harold was pared with JJ, JJ’s plus/minus is no longer in a freefall.
Agreed Blackhawk’s road uni is the best in Hockey and I also love all the orignal 6′s uni’s. The Flyers have done it right by leaving theirs simple and classic (but God I hate the Flyers).
The all time worst uni’s over the years? No question about it, the Canucks.
[Reply]
The old Hartford Whalers jerseys were almost as bad as the Canucks!!! There was something about that green that was just plain hard to look at.

I like Harrold because he plays the game the way it suppose to be played: Xs and Os. Yeah, nothing sexy but he’s a good, steady defenseman.
Never quite understood TM wanting to use an undersized dman as a 4th line winger but that’s just TM.
