Sunday practice update

No big news out of practice today. Players skated for about an hour before they were turned loose for the rest of the day. It’s a particularly big weekend for Wayne Simmonds, whose hometown is approximately 20 minutes outside of Toronto and who expects to have a large number of family members and friends in attendance Tuesday.

The Kings will skate again at the practice facility tomorrow.

Rich, what is your feeling on the Dean/Jack issue as it stands now? Is it all over or is it distraction right now ?

The guy in the rafters was simply trying to fall as far as the Red Wings have…he came down when he realized that he wasn’t high enough to fall to that extent.

I hope Wayne’s dad wears that same hat to the game–may be a good luck charm for the team…

    Quote from a Detroit paper:

“And what about those fans on the catwalk? Three fans somehow found their way into a restricted area on the fifth floor of the arena. Two of them were captured on the catwalk and escorted to safety. Another climbed up onto a conduit one level higher, then seemed to panic a bit. It took a while to bring him down.”

But my favorite quote from the article is…

“They were better than us tonight. They were better than us last time, but Howie did a great job keeping the puck out of the net. Tonight, again, they were stronger than us for longer periods.” -Babcock

It’s Ironic.TM’s breakdown yesterday of their team was exctly what Babcock thought our team did to them.TM also said the key would be getting it in deep and forchecking them.Babcocks take was that we succeeded.

The Kings have been on fire in the two games against the Wings and against the Sabers and Ducks. If they can keep it up, then wow!

Against the wings is a pleasant turn of the tables. The Kings have gotten better, the Wings worse. And its my belief that without Holmstrom the Wings are a soft team.

Hope the Kings keep it up. And my wish for all the WS fans, a hat trick for his family to see…Well, maybe a Gordie Howe hat trick…

Kopi is a point a game player. He may have years where he comes close to 100 points but in order to win in this league, playing both ends wins you games during the regular season and playoffs. He’s still young and will continue to learn both the offensive and defensive side of the game….the kid is smart, very smart. His dad is/was a professional hockey coach…kudos to dad!

We’ve had plenty of players come through this organization and put up big numbers with little or no results. I give TM all the credit for teaching Kopi the right way to play the game. His game reminds me a lot of Ron Francis.

HJ, if you figure Kopi’s ppg in your stats, other than his first season his production in the final 31 games was pretty much at a par with the early part of the season. It seems you were perhaps trying to imply he tails off, but the stats don’t support that; I would figure Kopi for 82-83 for the year.
