After this morning’s skate, Terry Murray said he would go with the same lineup he used toward the end of the game against Buffalo. That means Raitis Ivanans and Randy Jones will be the healthy scratches and the Kings should start the game as follows…
Richardson-Kopitar-Simmonds
Smyth-Stoll-Brown
Frolov-Handzus-Purcell
Parse-Moller-Segal
Scuderi-Doughty
Johnson-Harrold
O’Donnell-Greene
Quick
At least Parse is back to his original position and same for Purcell. Would have prefered a swap of richardsen and Smyth though.
Lets kick some Red Wing butt!

Natural position (Parse)

Interesting line-up. But then I guess the powers that be are better coaches than I since my Possum Trot Polecats never won a cup either.
[Reply]
Rather have purcell on the 4th line.
[Reply]
Coaches not happy with Parse again.
[Reply]
Hope this line is effective enough for tonight against Detroit.
Lets get those 2 points boy’s !!!!!
[Reply]
Ouch, thats a wierd first line!
[Reply]
Might be a strange lineup, but i get the point behind…by spreading the talent around, it makes it harder for the Wings to concentrate on shutting down a specific line. We’re not putting all of our eggs in one basket. I think this is great move by TM

Food for thought. The main goal for the Kings this year was to make the playoffs. I hope our fans didn’t get too spoiled by our earlier success of being successful. A lot of talk about getting Kovlachek for some of our future talent, but is this wise? Would he fit in the present scheme or would he just be a loaner? Some articles suggest he really don’t want to come west. Would he be a “super-star” demeaning the morale of our present players? Remember Scuderi and Smyth wanted to come here because they liked where the Kings were going.
Would such a trade disrupt this scheme? I feel that with the present building plan, when (notice I said when, not if) the plan comes together with our prospect depth we stand to be a Detroit type force for more than one season. Due to whatever reason, a lot of our prospects are getting NHL experience.
Who knows what will work out best? I’ve seen the Kings self destruct plenty of times over the past.

Greene over Jones is such a huge difference… Glad Greene’s back in the lineup
[Reply]
I like this line up. I think that fourth line could surprise the Red Wings tonight.
[Reply]
I’m pretty sure these lines worked great last game. Why the surprise in keeping them?
More so why the surprise in seeing them when we all saw them on Tuesday in action?
haha. you guys…
[Reply]
This is the most balanced lineup I have seen all year. The only problem with it is injury related. Williams for Purcell and Whiskey for Harry would be perfect.
[Reply]
This line-up is probably the closest to a viable four line attack with the available talent that I’ve seen in a while
[Reply]
Man this reminds me of the Kobe tantrum before last season. Some times nerves are frayed and things are said in the heat of the moment. Its up to the individuals to work it out. Like someone said, we have been busting JJ for awhile in this public forum so why not DL? I, believe this will work for the good, JJ will improve and we will beat Detroit tonight! Go Kings! Aloha guys
[Reply]
I like those lines, especially the upgraded nature of the fourth line. A lot of speed and a some grit…
If we can roll four lines we would be such a better team and be able to stay healthy IMHO

How about some PP goals this time ?? Wouldn’t that be great Geeez !!
[Reply]
As much as I push for Purcell, I don’t see a rational argument to have Parse on the 4th line.
But then again, no one has played poorly enough to be demoted to the 4th line either.
Heck, Moller should be playing on a different line for that matter.
[Reply]
How long is the PP streak now, 22 or 23? I wonder what the Vegas odds for us making it to 50 before we score one?
[Reply]
I’d rather see Parse on the 3rd line as well, but I think he’s more productive as a LW, which is his natural position. That’s the logical explanation. I just hope TM gives the 4th line more minutes tonight than normal and play a true team game tonight.
Purcell better hold his own tonight. Playing with Fro and Zeus should open up some serious possibilities for him to score. I hope he pays attention enough tonight to cut to the slot for some feeds from Fro when Fro gets in the right position for them. I notice Purcell likes to stay out of the danger areas when he plays in the O-Zone. With a grinding line, YOU JUST CAN’T DO THAT! Put on the extra jock strap tonight Teddy and GO TO THE NET!
Game should be an intense one.
[Reply]
to me it doesn’t really matter what # a line is called, 1, 2, 3 or 18, who cares? It’s about chemistry and match-ups… whatever it takes to get the win!!!
the good thing about this line-up is being able to roll out balanced attacks all night for the entire 60-minutes, so that hopefully while we’re resting the main guys we’re not weakened by a line featuring Ivanans and Purcell, or ? together, …you get my point…
[Reply]
Cynic,
I was watching Purcell carefully the last game and I did notice him specificaly cycling into the slot.I’ll be watching this game to see if there is any consistancy in that area.Another thing I noticed is he was trying to stand up at the 1/2 boards and a couple of pucks got by him. Those things happen so I’ll be watching to see if he can make those pinches count.

SWEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got my shift covered for tonight (I’m only too happy to help coworkers pay their bills at the end of the month, lol), so the Kings and Wings it is!!!
understatement = This game is HUGE!!!
[Reply]
Kevco on the power play, you have a point. I notice the puck passing. They pass and seem to hold it for a second or so. By then someone is in their face. Then they pass and waste that precious time again. Successful PP’s come when the guy, say, on the left has the puck and the defender is coming, the puck should already be going to the right. Keep the defense moving around! The Kings seem to always waste the first minute not passing quickly even before trying to attack the net.
[Reply]
With you Dom. I saw those things as well. It’s a step for TP to go to those danger zones and make plays while waiting for the hits. Now that he’s getting there, he needs to execute. He’s not billed as a 4th liner. I think tonight’s game offers hima real opportunity as Detroit is not really a BIG team with punishing guys, as long as he stays away from Bertuzzi.
He better do the same thing tonight. He really could learn from Richie and Simmer here. It comes down to science as well. If you’re the fastest moving object during the hit, your energy transfers more than it’s absorbed. Be the guy who makes contact and it’ll sting less (If you know HOW to hit).
[Reply]
TM is big on this impersonal thing about how his players are cogs, and have to do a very specific job within his cog-grinding system. It’s almost as though he juggles lines just to reinforce that (which wouldn’t be a surprise because he basically came out and said it when he sabotaged the last Sharks game.)
[Reply]
“Like someone said, we have been busting JJ for awhile in this public forum so why not DL?”
The pointed question which got the blunt answer, in my opinion, is a direct result of the natural criticism of Jack Johnson’s play. If we’re lucky, they’ll all respond more professionally than they appear to have.
