End of first: Wings 2-0

The Kings had a flurry at the end of the period, and outshot the Wings 12-11 in the period, but put nothing on the scoreboard. The Wings’ second goal is now credited to Todd Bertuzzi, who deflected Brian Rafalski’s shot.

The biggest problem for the Kings these last couple of years has been consistency and its starting to show again. We are too young to make a legitimate playoff push. I’m not saying it couldn’t happen, it just seems like the Kings just aren’t ready.

I love how great we are in 5 on 3 situations. Its so laughable, we should be in first place.

ugh what a heinous game. Here’s to 9th place and missing the playoffs again. When are we gonna start a game with some will to win?

    It’s time, boys!

My Bakersfield Condors tied a game late against the Victoria Salmon Kings (yes, those Salmon Kings of YouTube fame), with a pretty give-and go 2 on 1 during the last minute to tie their game 3-3… Then, the boys won in overtime, 4-3 (yes, revenge is sweet!).

    They found a way.
    C’mon, Kings–do it!

I wouldn’t mind being down 2-0 against a team like
Detroit at full strength, but with all of their injuries I think the King should only be down 1-0.

In Detroit, I see new players all of the time and they just blend in like the older ones. When Detroit gets healthy they will end up 4th in the conference.

Do the Kings have injured players other than Williams that will make an impact on the team. I am hoping we have 4-5 injured players like Detroit that will be coming back after the Olympic break. I just can’t think of any at this time.

The Kings’ lack of skill is showing today. At least 10x per period they have a breakout pass to an open guy go wide or behind them, or the receiver mishandles the puck (whats up with Segal and his cement stick tonight), or a guy finds himself suddenly open for a shot and flubs it or (especially) blasts it wide. And I do not understand ‘never saw a shot he wont take’ Brown passing up the ONE chance he had for an open shot at the top of the circle.

And there’s just NO creativity on the PP, or the offense in general. I’m sure all of you can predict exactly what’s going to happen when Brown gets the puck coming up the wing, or Frolov or Handzus are behind the net on the cycle. As much as I dont like JJ’s game, at least he tries some creative things.

What I like about the Kings is that their shots are always clean, not from bad angles or shots that are 5′off net.

Naah. A simple 2 on 1 with a cross-ice pass just out of range of the D-man’s stick and the goalie’s stick for a tap-in, tied the game with 42 sec to go.

Mundane, just a game-saving clutch hockey play.

Am in ny so I have Rangers-Habs on tv, but based on all the complaints re officiating (which I’m sure were valid) I was thinkin same as Bako. The Kings have only beaten the Wings once in the last ? years, and I’m sure that the officiating wasn’t bad in every single one of those games. If you wanna make the playoffs you gotta beat the big boys sooner or later. 0 for Det, 0 for Vanc, and 1 for Calg won’t get it done this year as it didn’t last year or the year before that. Same goes for next year. Wanna be in the PO’s? Fine, you can’t have approx 15 games a year that you’re not gonna get anything out of. That’s a BIG handicap.
