L.A. Kings Insider suite, Feb. 11

Thanks to some strong work from Frank — otherwise known as “EASportsManagement” here — an event that many of you have been asking for now exists. For the Thursday, Feb. 11 Kings game vs. Edmonton, there will be a Staples Center suite dedicated exclusively to the LAKingsInsider.com community. It’s a great chance to meet and greet and watch the game together, and there are a couple other perks. One, Frank has arranged a pregame group photo, at center ice at Staples Center. That will require you to arrive at the arena in the neighborhood of 5:30-6 p.m. that night, but that will also all but assure you of landing the game’s giveaway, a Wayne Simmonds bobblehead that will be given to the first 10,000 fans.

I believe the cost is $100, but Frank can clarify any questions you might have. I’ll be excited to come meet everyone, and I’m hoping to line up a cameo appearance from a special guest as well. Frank deserves all the credit for this, as it was his idea and he worked it from start to finish. I’m doing what I can to help him, and I’m sure it will be a fun event for everyone! Spots are limited, obviously, so if you’re interested, don’t hesitate to click the link below. When prompted, your password is KingsInsider.

Belexes- The only POSSIBLE way Juraj Mikus could make this event is if the Kings equipped up with us with lead suits, full headgear and chained us to the floor because I GUARANTEE you the second Juraj Mikus walsk through that door, we will all be blown away by his awesomeness.

Most likely, he’ll be there in spirit. I’m kind of hoping he takes the form of one of the bobblehead dolls. LOL

If there was ever a game we need to win, it’s on the 11th! Since it’s a suite, I imagine there will be very limited seating (15?), so I’d guess seats would be reserved for only regulars on here? Hopefully Frank can clarify what the deal is.

The difference between penalties drawn (25) and taken (4) for Dustin Brown(notes) of the Los Angeles Kings, which is the largest difference between the two categories according to Behind the Net’s numbers. Interesting note on penalties drawn: Rookie Evander Kane(notes) of the Atlanta Thrashers is second to Brown with 23.”

  29. EASportsMgt says:

I’m really excited for the event. Thanks Rich for making this a reality for a lot of us who are looking forward to personally congratulate you for the hard work you do.
Just to clarify a few things.

The cost is $100 per seat, adults and children alike are welcomed. The ticket includes access to the suite to meet with Rich and hopefully a special guest, picture taken at center ice, and a Wayne Simmonds booble head as long as you arrive on time. I know the cost is a little pricey but that is why we threw in some perks but just meeting Rich and watching Kings hockey from a great view is worth it to me.

Currently we only have a cash bar set up in the suite so you wont have to leave the suite for drinks only food at this time.

Availability is limited however we can accomodate quite a large group. What we have done is reserved at least two suites side by side with a tear-down wall. Effectively making it one super large suite for all of us to be able to meet each other and enjoy Rich’s company.

The plan is to make this an annual event and grow it every year from there. We will make sure to give all out of towners plenty of notice for the next event and continue to make it affordable for everyone to enjoy.

Once again the event code is ” Kingsinsider ” all one word. Once there it will ask you for your email. If you have never purchased tickets before, you will need to create an account which is on the right side. Once your account is set up it will allow you to purchase the tickets. If you have any further questions or suggestions please email me at fjr@easportsmanagement.com

Thanks to all and I look forward to meeting you all.

Can’t say Selanne’s injury is good news.

Saw the play on TV, a huge slap shot from just inside the blue line, with the puck being tipped into his jaw. His mandible likely exploded. There was blood dripping from his visor, coming out of his mouth, everywhere. A comminuted compound fracture of the left mandible near the mentum angle would require hours of reconstructive surgery, with the hope that there isn’t significant infection.

    Wouldn’t wish that on anybody!

He always makes time for the kids and mine have pestered him for autographs on numerous occasions when he shows up to watch his kids play. Also been known to visit the losing locker room after games to offer words of encouragement to teams. Sorry to see him get hurt and hope he has a speedy recovery and that the Kings spank the ducks whether he’s in the lineup or not.

  70. Quisp says:

    Bako, re penalties drawn/taken:

    Drawn:

    Brown 25
    Simmonds, Smyth 14
    Doughty 13
    Kopitar 12
    Williams 11
    Frolov 9
    Drewiske, richie 6
    Johnson 5
    Handzus 4
    Greene,purcell, invanans 3
    Scuderi, Stoll 2
    Parse, Jones, moller 1
    everyone else 0

per 60 mins icetime, moller and purcell are both in the middle of the pack, with johnson and handzus. i would also expect moller’s numbers to be higher as soon as he’s playing with the top lines in non-PP situations (hard to draw pens when you’re on PP).

    Taken:
    IVanans 14
    Handzus 12
    Johnson, Greene, Doughty 11
    SOD 10
    Fro 9
    Sto 8
    Sim, Will, Parse 7
    Smyth, jones, drewiske 6
    Scuderi 5
    Brown, Kopi 4
    Harrold, richie 3
    purcell 2
    martinez 1
    moller 0

best numbers per 60 minutes of icetime: Moller (with 0), followed closely by Purcell, Kopi Brown and Richie. note purcell’s excellent numbers, which I have often referred to.

  82. BakoCAkingsCondorsGuy says:

    Thanks again, Quisp!
    That means, in +/- terms:

    Brown: +21
    Smyth: +8
    Kopitar: +8
    Simmonds: +7
    Williams: +4
    Richardson: +3
    Purcell: +1
    Moller: +1
    Frolov: 0
    (Harrold): -3
    Parse: -6
    Stoll: -6
    Handzus: -8
    Greene: -8
    Ivanans: -11

    Doughty: +2
    Drewiske: 0
    Martinez: -1
    (Harrold): -3
    Scuderi: -3
    Jones: -5
    Johnson: -6
    ODonnell -10

This statistic obviously favors forwards over defensemen. It obviously favors speed over size, effort over positioning. These seem to be as expected, except for Brown and JJ, Drewiske and Frolov. The statistics help explain why Brown and Whiskey always seem better than their statistics.

It also explains how Fro seems to be such a stiff. Can’t imagine why someone like him doesn’t draw a boatload of penalties. It means he really isn’t being aggressive, offensively. Fro is large and strong, with great puck-handling skills. He really should draw more penalties. Then again, so should Parse.

Compare Parse and Richardson; no comparison, really.

Then, there is Ivanans… What can you say? He fights, he intimidates, he drew 3 penalties?

    bako, re frolov -

well, also he has more defensive responsibilities so he’s going to take more penalties. numbers have him drawing 9 and taking 9. I agree he could be more aggressive, it’s also predictable that his numbers would be basically what they are.

Sounds like a great event! Wish I could be there (my birthday is in 2 weeks… hint, hint! :) ) Will be great to finally put faces to names.

Maybe us Kings fans up in the Seattle/Vancouver area can have a Kings Night up here? I know there is 4 of us in Seattle and one in Vancouver.

If you guys are interest let me know and I can go reserve a table at Teddy’s Tavern in the Roosevelt neighborhood in Seattle. They do have NHL Center Ice.

My email is obitonykenobi@aol.com Let me know if you guys are interested!

Love waking up to ECHL talk. I’m a Las Vegas Wranglers fan myself. For those who can’t make it to Ontario tomorrow (I’ll be stuck here in Vegas) it’s going to be on Fox Sports West (aka the Kings channel). For those outside the broadcast area of that station ECHL.com should have a channel listing.
