Anze Kopitar’s postgame thoughts…
(on the game…)
KOPITAR: “That was a game we should have won and, I thought, deserved to win too. A couple bounces here and there… … It’s frustrating, but what can you do? There’s another game in a couple days, and I’m pretty sure if we keep playing like that, like we did in the second part of the second period and the third period, I like our chances.”
(on Howard’s game…)
KOPITAR: “We had — particularly, our line — had five times when three guys were laying in the crease, and we couldn’t get the puck by everybody. Howard, he was playing good, no question about that, but there were just a couple lucky bounces here and there, and we could have won that game.”
(on whether there was a Kings letdown after they scored…)
KOPITAR: “When you keep going like that, and you get one (goal), it’s a little bit of a relief, but that’s what we have to learn. We can’t let down. No matter if it’s 0.2 seconds left in the first period or 17 seconds left in the third period, you can’t let down.”
Gee, I wonder if Kopi hates Sean O’Toolbag too.

Kopitar gets the message. It doesn’t matter if you play a whole period with intensity if you give up when it matters. That applies to this season too, nows the time to step it up a notch.

Its the NHL, it happens…. We have to take all the positives out of this game, and bring it into Saturday night…

What nice comments. How about something like, “$%%#@&() the Wings! And that &^*&*(&*(^ defenseman who couldn’t stop his man? Fu&* him! I’m gonna kick %&^%#$%#$’s ass right after I slap shot your ***&ing tape recorder down your &I^%%Y#Y%*(^&ing throat!”
Then I’ll know he gives a damn. We just saw what nice hockey looks like.

iceguy — you sound like a Ducks fan

Kopi got it right! Keep playing that way, and get over this loss ’cause STL is in town in a couple days.

Jet-
Yeah, I guess you are right. Kopi shows a lot of pride and passion in his comments.

Iceguy,
I have to say, I’m a little sick of the cliche replies. I wouldn’t mind hearing something like, “I’m ticked off. We blew it. We ran into a hot goalie, but we worked our butts off to tie that game and we let down afterward and gave up at least one point.” No pointing fingers, but a little fire would be nice to see.

When is Kopi going to start playing. it seems that he is just coasting out there. He needs to step it up or the Kings are going to fade down the stretch!

Kopitar could not win a faceoff tonite to save his life. Don’t be fooled by the 52 shots on goal. The Kings were playing soft tonite. Never seen so many whiffed shots, so many miscues and problems clearing the zone. Doughty was not sharp tonite and I think Sean O’Donnell had the worst game of his life.
The Redwings played conservative and played well. All they need is one goal and they can milk any game. But a lot of the shots were from the perimeter and, to me, they made Jimmy Howard look like the Great Wall of China. He was solid, but he was very lucky.
Bitter pill to swallow, but time to move on. When will the Kings ever beat the Redwings with any consistency… arggghhhhhhhh.

If the goalie is flat on his back or stomach? Three words LIFT THE PUCK! Also Detroit did not have a back to back they played the Ducks on Tuesday. If you want Kopi to start calling teammates out, I suppose you want him to change his name to Anze Uno-Uno(No offense Chad).
The Kings had about 20 premier scoring chances, but were unable to shoot the puck over fallen players. If the Kings outplay there opponent to the extent they did tonight for the rest of the season they will close out on roughly a 33-4-2 run.

Every time the Kings lose, regardless of whether they play well or not, the brainless trolls come out. This I’m effing sick of!

Gotta be frustrating for Smyth to watch both his line mates waste so many good chances.

Kenneth, you couldn’t have said it any better!

They see me trollin’ they hatin’…fwiw I thought kopitar played terrible tonight. I’m suprised no one is asking him to give up his a and get traded to atl with fro and ersberg for kovalchuk. I know it’s the in thing to be hating on brownie and all, but come on! We can call bernier up! Brilliant! Stanley cup ’10!!!!!

as i posted in the game summary section:
Let’s take the pitchforks and torches from the Villagers before they burn us all out.
we have great chemistry and we have come a long, long way. those with grounded roots, know not to blame anyone, the Offense scored 1 goal, and support what is the best collection of players and team functioning we’ve had since Wayne was here.
about, ‘just lift the puck’, sounds so easy until you can’t bring the puck back far enough to go over 2-3 bodies lieing flat on the ice in front of you and the puck is moving. they were absolutely tiring to lift the puck or would have if they could.
we have JW coming back in a couple months; no trades are necessary. stay focused and hungry.
