Wednesday injury report

We’re back to the daily Kings injury reports. Matt Greene didn’t even start practice today. He skated in warmups and left the ice before things got going. Terry Murray said Davis Drewiske is dealing with a shoulder sprain. Here’s what Murray said about each of the three injured defensemen…

(on Greene…)
MURRAY: “He just kind of locked up a little bit. His back seized up on him. So we’ll treat him and see where he is tomorrow morning. … He had just come on the ice and got started with the drills. He was around yesterday, getting some therapy for the same thing. He thought he was really good last night, at the end of the day. Then he comes in and it locks up on him. So we’ll see where it is.”

(on Drewiske…)
MURRAY: “It’s a matter of rehab. There’s nothing else that needs to be done but getting in the off-ice stuff that will get him back as quickly as possible. Time-wise, it’s hard to say. It depends, a lot of the time, once you get into the workouts, how fast his body responds to it. It’s the best-case scenario that it could have been, which is good news. … It’s going to be a couple weeks, at the minimum. That’s me, just speculating, with my history in that kind of situation. But I know Whiskey, one thing about him is that he’s going to put in the time, work and effort. He’s a great kid that way, to get back as fast as he can.”

(on Randy Jones…)
MURRAY: “Jones is very close now. He got through yesterday, and now it looks like he got through today, in real good shape. It’s a matter of getting physically ready to go, and that will be up to us now, with the off-ice and on-ice workouts. He can be taken off IR. It’s retroactive and back-dated, so that’s not an issue at all. He can come off tomorrow. He won’t be ready to play tomorrow, but he could come off that soon. It’s just a matter of getting his physical conditioning going.”
