Williams injured

Justin Williams suffered some type of injury to his lower right leg after a play behind the Phoenix net less than five minutes into the first period. Williams was down on the ice for at least five minutes and had to be removed by a stretcher, his hands covering his face as he left the ice. Obviously, I’ll pass along updates as they are available…

Broken shin. They used an air cast to splint it. Not a though.

Looked bad for JW. Don’t like to see any player in pain. But Brown scoring? definitely a good thing.

Hopefully, it has nothing to do with knee but I saw the bend, it looked really bad…

Would this be classified as a “lower body injury”?

    (yes that’s sarcasm)

Very bad….JW was having such a great season. We get one back on that first line and we lose one…..just tough luck.

All the best to JW. He did look like he was in major pain; it didn’t look like the knee (thank goodness) as they splinted the lower leg/shin area.

We’re all praying for ya dude……

I feel horrible for Willy. He was having a great year. He seemed like he was in a lot of pain, hopefully he got some relief by now. The guy just can’t catch a break. No pun intended.

DL did a good job taking it to our old pal Rutherford and Tambellini to get JW.

Now everyone is level for awhile.

Such a bummer. Some players are just injury prone. For whatever reason, JW is an injury magnet. Just bad, dumb, stupid luck.

Between periods the cameras showned Williams hobbling on his crutches, his right knee was wrapped heavy with white stuff and his leg was still bent as it was on the ice.

Yeah, the between period video of Williams on crutches with a soft cast makes me think it wasn’t a break.

Wouldn’t he have been sent immediately to the hospital on the stretcher if it was broken? Not allowed to walk on crutches? Perhaps it is the knee…

  27. simarosa says:

So that was a soft cast, sure beats my description. I was wondering if I was the only one who didn’t go to the kitchen between periods!

  28. JWR says:

Well the soft cast was on his lower leg and not his knee. If it turns out to be a break that might actually be better than “soft tissue” aka ligament injury.

At least Simmons has filled in well the last time Williams was off with a groin injury. I would expect to see Scott Parse back for the next game.

Couldn’t see that it wasn’t on the knee, but you’re right. No need to be on lower leg and foot if it’s a knee. Hmmm…
