Quick postgame quotes

Jonathan Quick’s postgame thoughts…

(on the game…)
QUICK: “I felt like it was pretty similar to the last time we were up here. A good defensive battle, and each team had a few chances here and there. Our penalty kill and defensive play really stepped up, and we got a couple big goals. Sean O’Donnell ended up scoring the game-winner there. I don’t think anyone had money on him scoring the game-winner, so it was a great team effort. A lot of character went into this win, because we had a few guys out of the lineup and we had some guys playing some big minutes down the stretch.”

(on his game…)
QUICK: “I felt good out there. I got a lot of help. I had a couple posts, and I had Greener clear one out from behind me that slipped through, so I got some luck. We did a great job of blocking shots and clearing out rebounds. It was a real good win.”

Hope Quick starts next game. Granted Quick in net will show that we have no confidence in EE. But we don’t so where’s the prob. Quick will have 8 days to rest.

If the playoffs started right now, we’d be playing the Red Wings. It’s kind of funny to think that we’d be the #1 seed and Detroit the #8!

You know, the funny thing about that is, play all year for the better seed, and then lose one at home and it’s gone, in an instant!

I think Quick reads the blog as well. “I don’t think anyone had money on him scoring the game-winner”. Reno, Harry, did you have money on O’D scoring the game winner? The payoff woud have been HUGE! LOL

    Hey Rich,
Do you know if Richardson is hurt? How about Brownie? I saw Brown’s comments, but he did not indicate if he has any pains……Maybe you will have more update tomorrow at Calgary. Please give us a updated injury status for all players, if possible.

    Thanks

Now that that win is in place, gotta agree with Variable about one thing:

The Kings have to play a hell of a lot better with the puck in games to come. Excuses for them accepted, but they will have to be much more effective with the puck. More puck possession, fewer center-ice turnovers and a more effective power play…

But like a punch-drunk boxer staggering into the pub, I’ll say this:

“Give me more, boys! I want MORE!”

    GNight, all!

    Hey Kris,

I’ll be at the Phoenix game on the 26th too and I also have family out there. It’ll be a good night, hope more Kings fans make the trip! C’mon Kings fans, road trip!!

I agree. Let’s show those ‘yotes what NHL fans are about and stick our tongues out at those Phoenix fans who complain about a 30 min drive to the game. Hell, I live in Vegas and go to some Kings games in LA. Much further drive and you got the 20 min it takes to get off the freeway. So yea, who ever can make it out please do if only to shame there fans into showing up (that’s if Smyth hopefully back or that Rich said it’s one of the better arenas isn’t enough for you).

    Mr. Hammond,

I really like what you do here. As a Kings fan I know you provide me with a real treat that fans of other teams don’t have. But please, please, please try to get more quotes from more interesting/intelligent sources like Williams. I really respect what these guy do on the ice but the canned comments from most including Murray really suck and are a real insult to some fans.

Why do you fill your blog with so much quote garbage? Are you desperate to fill space? Why do you publish junk when I know you know it is an unintelligent snooze parade. Heck it’s not even sensational! You know there are players capable of intelligent speak – give them more room please. If you refused to publish the junk then maybe players would stop with the low-level-canned-junk-speak? Please don’t reward this behavior.

    @MmmmYummy

I can’t believe anyone would be so ungrateful for this blog. Rich works hard and puts in a lot of time to get us this insight that no other fans get on other teams. Why should every quote be sensational? It’s a blog. Do you really think Rich threatening to not post a player’s quote would make them change what they say? As it is we get a ton of info, and even in the blandest of quotes have interest to me and to other Kings fans. Rich doesn’t control what the players say, so if you don’t like what they’re saying, don’t read the blog.

Back to Quick….Outside of the couple of games where Quicker let some soft goals in, the guy has been outstanding.

I never understood the critcism that he takes.

Anze, JJ, Fro and a couple of others do deserve some of the shots because there are some nights when they obviously do not bring their best games.

Quick, Simmonds, Williams, Richardon, O’Donnell, DD and many others deserve all the kudos they get and then some.

Nice work on the blog Rich

Have to agree with the responses to MmmmmYummmmy. Can’t figure out where he/she is coming from. It is clear that we trust RIch to give us the best coverage possible and it is equally clear that he has delivered. I want to hear what all of the players are saying and if some are giving canned answers I can live with it. This is a new age of journalism not just for us but for the players as well. This means that we have had access to players who in the past we probably would not hear from. What MY is suggesting is almost asking Rich to censor what the players are saying, by excluding those that MY does not want to hear from. I cannot imagine Rich would ever do that. I know that I will trust Rich to get the best information that he can get to share with us.

“sensational” was a joke – humor. Yikes. Some folks are awful touchy – wowza.

I think I was very respectful of Mr. Hammond.

I never said Mr. Hammond should threaten/censor anyone. Just that *I* would prefer – better quotes. The players/coaches etc. give canned junk because they know they can and it will be “printed.” Now if anyone has any better suggestions on how to get better quotes, they should share it. That is unless you want to spend your life reading Tweet quality junk.
